ZdayZ 2012 ~ Role Call

Ok everyone! It's that time of year again!

ZdayZ 2012 is coming up May 17-20 (Thursday-Sunday).

As some of you may know, the BOD of the Florida G Club has been working hard lately to revamp the club. We are happy to welcome new members and sponsors, new website (currently under construction), as well as new tshirts, stickers, business cards, etc. in the very near future. At least 5 of the 8 Directors have expressed interest in going, and I'm hoping to have a GREAT turnout with lots of FGC members (and future members ) at ZdayZ this year!!

I called Fontana Village Resort yesterday to get room pricing. Right now the ONLY rooms remaining available are as follows:

- $99/night for a hotel room with 2 queen beds
- $249/night for a cabin with 1 queen and 2 twin beds

So we need to figure out, as a group:

1) WHEN to caravan up there. In 2009 We left at 4am on Wednesday morning and paid for 4 nights. In 2011 we left at midnight Thursday night and paid for 2 nights. This year I propose leaving Thursday morning (8am). It's a 10-11 hour drive, and leaving at 8am would put us there around 6pm Thursday night. Plenty of time to check in, and we would spend 3 nights there. There are other groups that leave Friday and only spend 2 nights, which is always an option too. We can coordinate with the Z club as well as coordinate between Tampa/Orlando/Jax for meet-ups.

2) ROOMS. Who is bunking with who. I've always shared rooms before and would be open to bunking with anyone who doesn't snore. I call a queen though.

3) WHO IS GOING. Post up below in the sign up list for ZdayZ 2012!!

Sign Up List:
1. ishiftinheels - Veronica
2. demonteverde - Ian
3. NFSP_G35 - Ashley
4. ilovez33 - Ricky
5. kidcane - Chad - tentative

Hmmm, I'm definetly interested....I'm supposed to go on a cruise around that time as well though, so it may not be economoically feasible. I'm actually from that area though (asheville) so it'd be an easy trip, my family still lives there. Side note, those room rates seem somewhat high for the area....I'm sure there's hotels around there for much less.

IIRC there are no other hotels that are really close but several that are many miles away.

What Chad said, plus the whole point is kinda to stay there... it's like summer camp for big kids, you get to go from cabin to cabin and just party and hang out with people... If you get a hotel room elsewhere you'll probably regret it.

+1!

Last time, my group stayed at the hotel in Robbinsville, and while it was ok, we would have waaaaaaaaay rather got a cabin, there just weren't any more available.

Not so this year! We got ours booked early

I am coming and will be bringing a friend with me. I would like to sleep on the floor at someone's hotel/cabin... (my friend would also get a spot on the floor)... of course we will split the room up evenly as well. I just need to find someone... maybe lyndon? *shrug*

I think lyndon mentioned something about leaving on wednesday. I would like to leave wednesday so i have more time there to hang out and check out the scenery.

Max, did you call and they told you those cabins are available? Because when I called last week the lady told me that what I listed in the first post is all that's left available. =\
