I'm looking for Board Of Director Nominees

I'll try to keep this short and sweet. After a long conversation with g8tor20 today (the FGC lawyer) we decided that we'll soon be having a meeting to establish "territories" or "districts" for the FGC infrastructure. Each district will have either 2 or 3 Board Of Directors (BOD's) that will represent their group. The districts will most likely be broken down as follows...

SFL (from the Keys up to Sarasota),
CFL (from Tampa to Daytona)
NFL (from Ocala North)

This level of club participation would involve up to 10 hours per week of your free time at certain parts of the year, being involved in the club's financial decisions, voting (often times by proxy), setting up local meets for your CHAPTER, and helping in the continued recruitment and success of the Florida G35 Club.

Ideally there will be a Club President (or Chairman), a VP (or Vice Chairman), a Secretary and a Treasurer (possibility of these 2 being combined). These positions for the most part have already been determined and at least 2 of these people would be, by default, on the BOD.

We would potentially have a club election for the BOD's in NFL and SFL and there might even be one seat to vote on for CFL.

So, who is interested? BTW, this is the part of the "Welcome to the Club" private message which I was referring to when I said "your involvement is important for the clubs success!"

I'm off for a "Movie Night" to watch Brother Bear with the wife and kids, eat popcorn and drink an O'doul's. I'll check back in a few hours to see how much response we have...

Assuming I read that right, I'd like the VP position for SFL.

Wes, I'm actually asking for people to "nominate" themselves to be an Equal Partner in the BOD operations. It is my understanding that the BOD actually sets the guidelines for the club and the President (only one and I'm it) and the VP (again only one and that's Wes) have the duties of carrying out the BOD's direction. The next step would be for the people in the club to vote for the people in their "districts". Example, I would vote for Daniel because he's in my "district". Finiti35 might chose to nominate herself and even vote for herself and she can also vote for any other 2 people from SFL that run for the BOD. Then FL350GT may choose to nominate himself and vote for himself and 2 other people in SFL. Finally another member in SFL may say "to heck with running for the BOD" and they can vote for the 3 people they want to represent them. The top 3 people in each district would be BOD members for a 2 year term. The only variation of this would be CFL where Wes and I, by default, would be BOD's. This would only leave one seat open and everyone who lives in CFL would only have one vote. (The actual lentgh of the term a BOD would serve would be defined in the bylaws... more on that in a minute.)

Let's say that there are 9 BOD members for discussion purposes. We'd have 3 people in SFL, 3 people in NFL and one additional person from CFL (plus Wes and I) would make 9 potential BOD members. All 9 BOD members have EQUAL say.

Example: If the majority of the club voiced their opinions on the internet and wanted to buy and sell t-shirts for the Miami meet in June-ish, they wanted to rent out a pavilion and pay for a portable dyno then the BOD will "meet" (discuss things online) and decide what we want to vote on. We may choose on line that we have enough money to do one or two of these activities and then a ballot (or proxy) will be mailed out and each BOD member will be able to vote as to whether or not we spend $X on t-shirts or $Y on the pavilion or $X+$Y on both. The majority decision is what we do as a club. Maybe the final decision will be that we just rent a pavilion and keep the additional money for reserves or something else down the road. Basically the BOD makes sure the club is heading in the "right direction" and that the finances are being spent appropriately and fairly.

That is just one simple example as to what the BOD's will do.

I also want the 3 BOD members from each "district" to be the leaders of smaller FGC "Chapters". This means that they are the ones responsible for holding weekly, bi-weekly or monthly meets (monthly at a minimum) for the local groups. This way people in the FGC are always meeting up, being active in the club and keeping the spark alive.

Maybe g8tor20 will chime in more, but for now that should answer the questions that you've asked thus far.

In the next week or two we will be establishing the FGC's "Articles of Incorporation" and the club "bylaws". The bylaws are what will govern what we can and can't do as a club. Whether we vote in or appoint "Officers" (like Pres, VP, Treasurer, Secretary) and how the "districts" are represented. There is much more to it than that but the point is that if you want to be involved in establishing the bylaws you may want to consider heading up to CFL when Jason (g8tor20) will be helping set things up. Tentative date for this meeting is Saturday morning on Feb 5th.

Hope this isn't too confusing, it's a lot to absorb and even more difficult to try to explain over the internet.

So basically at this point we have...

NFL - noone

CFL - Todd (President), Wes (Vice President) and Daniel (SFLG35)

SFL - Teddie (FinitiG35), Austin (Diamond_Coupe)

At this point I might have to open the boundaries up a bit and have more people from CFL on the first 2 year term of the Board Of Directors to represent NFL and SFL. This is not in EVERYONE's best interest, but if that's what you guys and girls want...

Also, the bylaws may be structured in such a fashion that a person on the BOD must be a G35 owner, to protect the clubs interest. There will also be an age restriction (per Florida Law) of being over 18 years of age. We really need more input from everyone if we're going to be able to pull this off. Anyone else want to commit, regardless of where you happen to reside?

Jason,

Straight from the first post... "NFL (from Ocala North)" BTW, I happen to agree with you, but if there is no interest, there is no interest. We'll have to give it a few more days to allow everyone to consider their options.
