Updated: South Florida Car Audio - New ipod install pictures

Hey I am looking for somewhere that knows the G35 Sedan inside out, to do some work. Basically I want to keep the car looking stock and maintain my warranty, but get my car to sound at least as good if not better then my IS300 that I just traded in. In addition I would like to have some way of integrating my ipod into my car, so that it all looks and feels natural and stock. I really do not have the time to dick around with my car and really do not want to just go to sound advice or something and trust someone I don't have any word of mouth on to pull apart my new baby. I live in Deerfield Beach, but traveling is not a big deal as long as its worth it. I literally bought the car today and thats the one thing that keeps bugging me and I want to take care of it asap.

Thanks
Louis

Being from Central Florida I can only recommend one place in South Florida... Creative Carz. Here's a direct link to their Electronics Section. The owner of Creative Carz is Dexter and he is a Florida G35 Club sponsor. He offers our members a discount on tint and audio products and he just might be the guy you're looking for.

Give Dexter a call. We get 15% on window tint (Huper Optik and Llumar) but there is no set percentage on stereo equipment due to varying markups on various vendors.

His number can be found at the links above. Let us know what you decide to do and make sure to post pics for future reference (after your work's done of course).

Thanks will do. I ordered the parts for the ipod mod I want to do. So at this point I am just waiting for them to come in. I am going by the install done on http://g35ipod.com because that is the only one that I know of at the moment. I spent some time looking like 6 months ago and then the new car went on the back burner for a bit, but now I have the car so its time to have some fun.

Are G35s cool or what? Imagine a site dedicated specifically to installing ipods in G35s... Very cool!

Ya pretty crazy I found that when I was first thinking about getting a G35. Ipod is so important to me when it comes to a car. I hate having hundreds of cds on me and mp3 cds suck, to hard to organize right.

Well I went to Creative Carz today to get all my hardware installed and I am very happy with Dexter's work. I took some pics in less then ideal lighting. Basically my experience went like this..... Dexter didnt have much trouble getting everything apart, it seems to me that the 05 comes apart much easier then previous models did. The guides that I read online had you removing half the dash to get at everything, but this was for an 04 coupe I have an 05 sedan. He then wired everything up pretty without any issues. I then decided that I would like my aux connectors located in the right rear of the arm rest (only had a choice of right rear of left rear because of the vent). He put in two RCA jacks in for me with a nice little face plate that he cut out for me, which I wasn't expecting (always nice to get more then you expect). He then put everything back together with only one problem, the parts around the clock didn't want to snap into place properly, but after some toying with it, he got it in just fine. I decided that I just wanted to use a Belken charger with the line out on it because, I could then just simply put an RCA to 1/8 inch cable in there and run the ipod or anything else kind of like the old corded remotes. I liked this solution the best because I can use my ipods interface very easily while driving and so can a passenger, a dock would have been to static for my taste and would have required a remote, which in my eyes would have made having an ipod kind of pointless. So now I just take it out pick what I want to listen to and put it away (or leave it out), which is great. Yet another good thing about this install is the Belken charger auto pauses the ipod when you turn the car off, so when I get back in all I have to do is press play and im back where I was (auto start would be nice), there is also just enough slack to be able to control it from anywhere in the car, though I always pick the tunes in my car. Now I just need to find myself a smaller RCA to 1/8 cable that is of comparable quality and fits well in the arm rest. Let me know what you think and I will try to post some better pictures, when the sun isnt out and I have a better fitting cable.
