Everyone, Check your check books!

This just sucks! Last night Ian and I were going over the clubs books for 2005 and we ran into a problem. We have $25 that is not accounted for in the clubs account. We went through all of the paypal transactions and all of them are recorded properly.

Later on we'll go through the AmSouth account monthly statements to see if we can find where this mysterious $25 came from.

Just incase, maybe everyone else should go check your checkbooks and see if there's a mad man going around making anonymous $25 deposits... :bangs head against wall: Oh the joys of being a director...

It's comfortable to know that our club is concerned about it's members and not trying to take advantage of anyone. Thanks Todd and Ian for keeping the integrity of the club intact and doing the most ethical thing, maybe some "to-be" new members will see this and know serious FGC is, after all were probably the largest G35 club in America!!!

Anyways, my checkbook never seems to be balanced with the right numbers. I say if no one claims this mysterious money, we take a vote. Either we can splint the money between all the members (probably equals amout .30 cents each) or just put the money into the next "All Florida Meeting" for drinks or prizes?

I just wrote a check to my lawn guy. I was surprised to see he didn't bring his credit card / debit machine with him on the lawn mower

So..yes...checks are still handy.

True. I just drive over to the ATM while my lawn guy works on the yard if I don't already have cash on me. Again I hate checks! I used to love checks when I lived check to check, cause I could float them.

oh i completely agree that they are a pain in the ***....but...sometimes they are needed. What ticks me off is whe people use them in situations where they should use cash / credit card / debit card...like publix.

Yeah, especially when they are paying just for a gallon of milk.

Part of the reason why our club uses checks and not a bank debit card is that our club checks are easier to keep track of (check # on each), they require two signatures so no one director can write a check by themselves. I am the only one who has been entrusted with holding our club checks, but not even I can write a check without either Todd's or Wes's required signature.

Can you imagine if I had a debit card linked to our club bank account and someone robbed me? It would be like giving away the keys to the kingdom. I never wanted to entertain that idea, and neither did Todd or Wes, hence why we stick with checks...

Regarding the unrecorded $25 dollars (which probably is my fault), I stopped by the post box (new member yay!) and our bank and picked up all records of transactions since the club account's inception. I'm going to to cross reference those with everything I have later today (afternoon) to find out out how we got $25 extra in our account. I'm on it, Todd.

WILD121, we've been looking for an accountant to join our ranks for a long time. We'll definately keep you in mind in the future...
