Decisions...decisions
Oh and before I forget, how far away are you sitting from the tv and how far away will you be using it for the pc. If its less than 3 feet fine then high res is a must but let me tell you over 6 feet and you will be wearing coke bottles for glasses before your next b-day. the eye strain at high res from that far is obnoxious. Trust me I know

I bought a 50" Samsung DLP tv a couple months back and it is the greatest thing ever invented! A friend of mine has a 60" projection tv and he hates it now that he has seen my tv (with HD). I pretty much stick to watching the 30 available HD channels and I love it. I would agree that the tv will be more 'valuable' for you because you can take it anywhere (especially DLP's, they only weigh like 20-30lbs) and resale is much better than a set of wheels.
You should save up and buy both.. your single anyways, no girlfriend to spend all your money on.

I plan to buy both, that isnt the issue. Its which one to get now and which one to get later.
I was making an extra car payment but if I stop doing that I can have another $4k saved in 4-6months for the rims. BUT if I do the TV route, it also includes a new computer and a stand for the electronics, meaning it will probably be next July/August before I get the rims. :-( But the opposite applies if I get the rims now.
BUT I figure that will be right about the time they are done building on my side of the development and I will be driving on clean roads.

This way you can save up for a great set of wheels too, you won't have to settle for something less because of price. I spent a ton of time researching DLP tv style tv stands and ended up buying from Sound Advice.. depending on your room layout, they have some decent stuff if you can find the right sales person to haggle with.
