Thanks again, if all goes well, is anyone interested in Tein S-Tech (G35 version)? Although I think I'm the second or thrid ower, they are brand new-never installed. $100. Sorry, to hijack your thread _jb.

I think Steve had an Eclipse AVN2454. The model I have is the AVN5435. It's a bit newer, and yes, it has the touch screen too.

I'm not sure exactly what's different between the two units. They seem to have stopped selling the 2454 when they came out with the 5435. There is also a newer unit on the way with a 30gb hard drive.

It does have a black plexiglass trim ring.

The Eclipse AVN systems are a little smaller that a full DoubleDin opening. I thought it looked better with the unit positioned at the bottom of the opening. Personal choice, I guess.

Thanks!

That was an easy decision for me... my G does not have dual climate control.

Apparently Nissan Skylines do not have dual climate control. The Nissan air conditioning circuit board does have the circuitry for DCC, but the resister and button is not installed. There is a DIY to unsolder the buttons and stuff from the original G35 air conditioner circuit board and resolder them to the Nissan circuit board. Several people have done it successfully, but, as I said, I didn't need to.

I believe the only way to get these parts in the USA is to import them through Joshi at J's Garage in Japan. I sent an E-Mail message to him at yosi@j-garage.com and requested pricing for the parts to put a DoubleDin head unit in a 2005 Infinity G35. Here's a copy of the E-Mail he sent back to me. You can see the pricing, including his commission. He is a very nice fellow and always answers E-Mail questions. He is in a different time zome though, sometime he replies in the middle of the night...

-----

Hello, John Beach san. Thank you for your e-mail. How are you?

Thank you for asking. Yes, we deal in the Nissan (Infiniti) parts. The price
of the 2005 double din dash kit is,

68260-7W000 (Double Dash Aluminum) :59.39USD
27500-AC500 (AC Controller) : 286.00USD.
Shipping cost : 39.00USD
5% commission : 19.21USD
Total : 403.60USD

Could you please confirm the parts? Because we have attached pictures, we
hope that it is your help. As for the payment, please let us have your
payment by online credit card (sorry, we do not have a paypal account) Thank
you.

If we can do anything for you or you have any questions, please don't
hesitate to let us know.
We are looking forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely yours,
J's Garage Export
Yo****aka Ikeda yosi@j-garage.com

This is exactly what I bought and what I paid for it. It took about two weeks for the parts to arrive. They were packed well and undamaged. I can not say the prices are still the same of course. Good luck on your conversion.

Looks great. I have the dash kit with bracket and a/c control sitting in my closet for future use. I'm gonna tackle the stereo last.

Your car is already awesome, the doubledin head unit will just make it neater. I have really been enjoying the Nav and everything. Yesterday I got "Lost" going to lunch with some friends, but saved the day by starting up my Nav system. (The address was strategically preprogrammed as a Destination,of course...

You're welcome.

Joshi uses a Japanese form of PayPal. It's something I never heard of before, but I used it and everything turned out fine. It takes a few E-Mails back and forth, but you'll get it.

Yep. It took a while, but it's a fantastic mod.

Thanks again for demoing yours in the Hooter's parking lot. That's the only time I ever saw one before I actually bought mine. We'll have to have another West Coast FGC meet after the All Florida meet. Dan - you listening?

Sure. It's not hard to get me to shoot pictures...

The AVN5435 has different day and night settings determined by the vehicle lights. The night settings can be adjusted to several background colors in the settings. I use the default white for daytime and black (background) for night time.
