so who is goin to fix it? your guy or their guy?
my guy. It is the shop that the infiniti dealership here uses. Their guy is just an estimator, but i think his "estimate" is pretty much meaningless. I have decided where it is going for the repair and they have quoted what it will cost for them to do it. Metlife has agreed to accept liablity for the claim and pay for the damage.

So personally, i really don't care what their estimator "thinks" it should cost....he is obviously wrong.

by over $1000...i would be willing to guess that they low ball for one reason, those people who want a check instead of getting the repairs done.

sux to hear man.....On Monday night after going to the heat game I decided to have a late night dinner at Flannigans in the Grove....I parallel parked on one of the sides where there is PLENTY of space for cars to move....so I'm coming out and out of shear paranoia decide to check the front and back of my car and low and behold I notice a black scratch on the front bumper.....yep a hit, very soft though I was able to remove the little stain that the black rubber like bumper left....I just can't stand how careless some people are man....glad to hear your situation is being resolved.

When I had my front end collision...the "estimator" estimated like $1700. Damage was close to $4K.

His estimate was New bumper: $275 bucks

I was like...do you really think you will buy a stock infiniti bumper for $275??

They also didnt want to replace my hood as that could be repaired. I was like f' that. I want a new hood. So....I made a deal with the shop I went to. I give them my car and they tell adjuster man that b/c its an aluminum hood...it cannot be repaired...only replaced. In the end...I got the new hood.

Ohh well....they covered the repair from the mechanic anyways.

update - car will be going in the shop on monday. I found a different shop recommended by the dealership's service forman. They seem confident they can make it look fine without blending the paint into the trunk lid/spoiler, which is undamaged.

...and i'm thinking the less body panels they mess with, the better. As long as they can make it match up.

Chris.

They can dead cut the LR paint perfectly. This leads to no blending as long as the parts are all made of the same material.

Don't forget to get those mirror holders thrown in for free.

Chris, sorry to hear about what happened. I hope everthing works out for your car at the body shop and they do a really good job and give back your car soon. I second, Todd, in saying to not forget to get the mirror holders painted to match your car. I think its the only "exterior" mod Todd and I have that nobody else has caught on to yet unlike those damn clear corners...
