got hit and run

came out from breakfast this morning and found that i had been hit and run in the parking lot....pass rear 1/4 panel and bumper right at the gas fill. Called the police and while i was on the phone with them found a note from the people who hit me. Called them and they reluctantly came back to the scene. They had a crappy attitude about it and i almost ended up getting in a fist fight with the guy.

Then they had the nerve to ask me to for MY insurance. Cops finally came out, did a report and gave them a ticket.

My g was the only parked car for about a 200 ft radius.

All i can say is i am 99% sure they would not have even gotten out of their truck if my alarm had not been going off. Shock sensor saved me on this one for sure.

Will post photos of the damage when i get a chance, i'm sure it's at least a few thousand.

Sorry to hear that Chris. At least they were nice enough to leave a note.

This might be a good time to get your mirror supports painted to match the body color of your car.

Dam Chris, sorry to hear that.

I'm surprised they even left a note. Good thing though.

thanks guys.

got the report from the accident and made a claim on their insurance. I will look into an estimate or 2 on monday. After they came back to the scene & saw how pissed i was they tried to leave again.

We had to remind them the police were coming and it is a felony to leave the scene of an accident.

I was def lucky on this one. The alarm was blaring after they hit me and there were some people lurking around outside of the restaurant we were at. If the alarm wasn't going off i know they would have just driven away like nothing happened.

estimate from the body shop the dealership uses is almost $2000. Estimate from "their" person is $735. Their insurance co (metlife) has agreed to pay and will be setting up the rental car during the repairs as well. So far, metlife has handled the claim as well as could be expected.

Sorry to hear about that. You can take it wherever you want to have it repaired. How could they hit you when you were the only car within 200 feet? It's like when you park all alone and far from everyone and you come out and there is a car next to yours and both cars are far away from everyone.

and everyone wonders why i don't drive my car...

sorry to hear about your misfortune chris, it was definitely a good thing they left a note - i was involved in a hit and run with my old car and it sucks to come out of pocket on that.

I'v talked to people who do it out of spite. They see some nice car that parks far away they will park next to them. Its the dumbest thing I'v heard but I usually try to park next to a curb and just far away to not have cars around but not make it blatantly obvious im "too good" to park closer. There are some sick people in the world!
