alright guys its time to start planning the caravan

been talkin to the atl people and they say that the friday rush hour starts at 2 so we need to be through there by then

tampa directions
http://www.mapquest.com/directions/m...2s=NC&2z=28733

orlando directions
http://www.mapquest.com/directions/m...2s=NC&2z=28733

looks like we both go different ways and its takes 10.5 hours to get there.

does anyone want to drive over from orlando and head up with the tampa crew??

its takes 6.5 hours to get to the atl from tampa.
so if we leave tampa at 6:30 we will be goin through atlanta at 1 beating the rush hour.

If you haven't yet noticed, the mapquest link you posted from Orlando doesn't even go through Atlanta. The only part through Georgia is I-95.

The map from Tampa goes through Atlanta though.

This leads to a dichotomy. Go I-75 to Atlanta and head to the mountains from there, or take I-95 to South Carolina and catch I-26 towards Asheville, NC.

Also, I ran the route from Orlando to Robbinsville on Yahoo and Google. Both had the route going from Orlando to Jax and then across I-10 (the most boring Interstate in Florida) to I-75.

Once the route got to Atlanta, one had you take I-85 towards the northeast while the other takes you up I-75 towards the northwest. Either way, the mileage and tranit time were about the same, and about on par with the route up I-26.

So the question is - what is the best route from Orlando.

BTW, when I went to Asheville last year, we took the I-95 to I-26 route.

It will only take you guys about 4 1/2 hours or so to get to Atlanta from Ocala.

Does that mean Chuck and I have to get up early to meet up with you guys in ATL? Wait, I almost forgot that Chuck gets up early every morning.
