Question Gauge Install Help

My Stillen S/C has just been installed. I have a boost gauge and an air/fuel ratio gauge. My question is on the air/fuel gauge. Since our VQ is OBD II there are 4 oxygen sensors. 2 sensors for each side of the engine. According to my buddy there are also 2 seprate wires connected to the ecu. One to read cylinders 1, 3, and 5 and the other to read 2, 4, and 6. If we tap into one of those and connect the air/fuel gauge, I would only read half the engine. I would read cylinder 1, 3, and 5 but not 2, 4, and 6. Is there a way to piggy back both wires to the gauge or another way to get it to read all 6 cylinders?

As far as I know there isn't any way to do what you want with one gauge. If I read you right you want to average the outputs of both banks. As far as I know there isn't any way to do what you want with one gauge. It's not uncommon to see cars running with 2 AFR gauges, one for each bank.

Unless you are intensely tuning the engine (which you can't really do with a Stillen SC) you don't really need it.

You could connect the outputs to a switch and then connect them to the gauge though. Have one switch position be left and one be right. Just a thought.

You mean setting up something like a toggle switch to switch from bank to bank? Wow, I have never heard of having 2 air/fuel gauges. I guess in this case you would have to. The only reason I want it is because I am used to having one, making sure I don't lean out. I know with stillen there is no real adjustment, but I have heard of a guy going WOT on the highway and he didn't hear the pinging because he was leaning out and blew. Bad gas or something. Just trying to make sure stuff like that doesn't happen.

you only need one gauge for a/f,if one side of the engine is running that lean youll get a check engine light.

Yeah I think i am just going to hook it up to one bank and leave it as is. My tech said the same exact thing, he said the check engine light will trigger before I even notice the gauge. Makes me just want to take it back and put in a different gauge. Thanks

What AF meter are you running? You should be using a wide band 02 sencor all you do is have it welded in and your good to go. Well you have to calibrate it too but thats all. You dont need to tap into harnesses to get af.

Hey Dan I talked to my Tech who has done the install on everything and he asked me if you had a TD exhaust. He said that if you don't then you can weld the O2 and be good. He told me since I have the HKS TD exhaust that even if I put in the O2 sensor it will do the same as if I tapped into the ECU. I spoke with Sam at Stillen and Like Roneski said above, he has connected a toggle switch to switch from bank to bank on the ECU. He told me that every engine usually has one side that runs leaner than the other. He told me to hook it up and see which sides runs leaner that way I know were both sides should be even if I only read one side a time. According to Sam at Stillen he has already done this.
