You can put a BOV with an auto tranny. It's more not if it can be done, rather it should be done.

The BOV going off is going to be a result of a bunch of different factors. You probably should talk to one of the shops like Brainstorm Performance or Scott Performance about this. They should be able to answer all of your FI questions.

I've seen them on automatic cars w/ factory turbos. They'll still blow off between shifts, etc. like normal.

I checked your site, you are planning Greddy FI?

Yeah. A BOV necessity isn't really dependent on tranny type. You should have it so that when you close the throttle, it can bleed off the air and not cause an unusually high pressure moment in the intake which causes the turbines in the turbo to stall.

Don't say you need a BOV because it sounds cool. Say you need it because it helps with performance. A lot of people want that crazy loud ptsssffff and they set it too high of a pressure threshold. This will cause the turbines to slow too much and cause turbo lag. It should sound like a gentle "sigh".

BOV work when the throttle is let off in any transmission, the turbos are still boosting air when you let off for a sec and this air will cause the turbos to go bad if they are backfed constantly

pretty simple once you understand what it does...

Does the Vortech full kit come with a BOV, if so, can it be upgraded?

ok guys. I had a WRX for the past 4 years up until a month ago when i got an 06 gcoupe 6mt. To the one question of will it still blow off in an auto. The answer is NO if you don't let off the throttle. If you do a search and look up exactly what the BOV does, you'll see it only lets out the extra boost once the throttle is let off. So if you are driving an auto or even doing manu-auto, as long as your foot in on the gas, it will not sound off. The reason it goes off with the manuals is obviously because you are letting off the throttle each time you shift. I had an... automatic WRX....and the BOV only sounded off when i let off the gas purposely to make it blow, otherwise you are quiet even in gear shifts as you obviously dont let off the gas in an auto.
And no, there would be no application for a BOV on a non forced induction app. Unless you wanna be cool like those civics with the BOV speaker underneath the hood

Like 06BLACKMT said, no not unless you get one of those dumb *** speaker bov's. which is not a bov, just a speaker that makes the same sound. you need FI to have a blow off valve.
