HELP PLEASE! Crank pulley and SC

Okay.. so my car is in the process of having my vortech installed. the shop calls me today and explains how they can not get my UR crank pulley off. They said they have tried almost everything to get it off, and they fear to try anymore because they don't want to damage the crank itself. My first questions is, has anyone heard of this happening before? Second, does anyone know of any tricks to get it off? And third, how bad is it to run the UR crank pulley with the SC? I've heard that it can be bad in the long run, but the shop is telling me that it's not bad for the car, but it will just cause the car to make less boost. Our theory was to run a smaller boost pulley on the SC to compensate for the lower amount of boost due to the UR pulley. ANY ADVISE/HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

Jonathan

ummmm what am i missing?
I haven't taken the crank pulley off my G, but I have taken it off other vehicles.
There are like 4 bolts. After the bolts are removed you pull off the pulley. If the pulley is stuck try a wheel/pulley puller. Seems pretty straight forward.

The shop has done everything.. they said it seems that the bolts have gottin so tight that they "wedged" or "cut" themselves into the aluminum of the UR pulley and will not budge for anything.

Have them grind the heads of the bolts off?? Sometimes drastic measures are called for.

Would it even be possible to do this and still be able to install a new pulley?

Wouldn't the bults themselves still be in there ?

Yea, the bolts would still be in there but they can probably grab them with vise grips and get'em out. Or, they can use bolt extractors. I still have a hard time believing they can't get them out with an pnuematic wrench.

Same here.. this place knows what they're doing, so it's hard to question them. But I've never heard of someone having this problem.. I'm going to go down there this weekend and take a look at it.. this pulley HAS to come off, no matter what.

MORE HELP? IDEAS?

Cool

The same exact thing happened to me!

We found a mobile truck that changed 18 wheeler tires.....

This mountain man used a air wrench that was the size of a jackhammer.

I thought my car was going to flip off the jack stands.

I will never put a lightweight pulley on another car of mine... It actually cost me a crank shaft. Take a look at the key housing and the key on this thing. The aluminum was bunk and sheared the crap out of it and the crank as well...

Lets hope this is not what yours looks like under there...

The only other pulley I would reccomend is the Fluidampr.

I had the EXACT same thing happen to me when I went to install a Vortech kit for a customer. He had the UR pulleys installed before hand. We ended up getting it off. We wrapped a belt around the other pulleys for tension. The first belt broke! Luckily we had a extra, it finally came off with three of us pulling on a jack handle that was attached to a half inch wrench. I thought it was just over tightened by who ever installed it, guess not. Good luck man
