intercooler safe from debris?

I have a few questions for those with aftermarket front bumpers that expose the front mounted intercoolers. Did you see any performance gains with the wider exposed area? Did your intercoolers suffer from road debris damage, pebbles or small stones from the car drving in front of you, are there alot of scratches, dents from this? I'm considering either the Stillen or Greddy front bumpers. Any experience would be appreciated.

I did the same thing as Chambers... Although I did look at the mesh from Home Depot I actually bought my mesh from ..... LoL, Um... Pep Boys... It is alot thicker than what was at Home Depot... I then painted it with high gloss black Krylon paint with 4 coats of clear coat to help it from getting chipped... I love my grille and it protects the intercooler very good... Gotta pick out the leaves and twigs (and yes cig butts) every once in a while tho...

Thanks for your inputs guys, but what about the increased effectiveness? Did you notice any difference in cooling the air?

You know what I have had front mounts and they get F***ed up that is just a fact of life. Personally I dont like to hide them, I like people seeing mine and saying damm. Or you can hide it behind a screen. I guess if you want the sleeper look.

Mine is VERY visible even behind the grille. If you paint the grille black you can see right thru it. If you keep it silver it hides the intercooler more.

And I did not notice any difference in the cooling effectiveness of the intercooler with the grille there...
