Monitor Using Nav Screen
Monitor Using Nav Screen
First, I wasn't sure how to search for this, so I'm just going to post and hopefully see some good results. I want to monitor air and fuel, maybe oil temp and some others that I haven't decided on yet. Why couldn't I use my nav screen to monitor all of this. Everyone is mounting gauges, well I don't want to add the gauges if I could use another media to see the outputs. I could always add a computer (mac) to the car, so why couldn't I monitor everything via pc. Is there a system already out there that is capable to do this? Hopefully, this makes sense to everyone.
I think you used to be able to do this with the HKS CAMP system, but you still had to have an video input to the nav system. In order to make it work, you'd have to do something like: probe -> HKS CAMP -> avelectronics -> Nav screen. There might be better ways to do it now, since this was more than a year ago that I was looking into doing the same thing. The thoughts I've read/heard about it are that people want to have access to their monitoring at the same time as having the nav function available, so it just didn't turn out to be a popular idea. I don't know if I'd do it or not, since a zeitrionix guage can be stealthly mounted and provide you with a lot of necessary monitoring while at the same time you could still use your navigation. Good luck with whatever you end up doing!

I have been doing it for a while....and it's a kick-*** system...truly unparalleled imo.
Check out the short video that i made.

make sure to right click and save... otherwise it only plays back the audio for some reason (if you try to stream).
EDIT: at the time, some inputs were not working...now they all do...and I also have knock indication as well.

Outstanding. Can you give more deatails on the hardware required to do this? Also, what was needed to connect it to the Nav screen?
On a side note, Gurgen, do you have issues with traction? If you did, how did you deal with it?

Hey Guys
Issues with traction i definitely do have...but not much, since i am running pretty low boost (9-10psi) due to lack of a good EM solution. So aside from having wide tires...not much else done there.
As far the setup...i have a aftermarket NAV screen, which has a descrete video in chaneel, which comes out of my laptop. To see the system, go to innovatemotorsports.com. It's a modular system. They makethe popular lc-1/xd-1 combo wideband kit. But ther eis a lot more to this. Look into their product line and the LogChain concept. For your reference, I have one of their LM-1's, LMA-2 ("rpm wire"), LC-1, and two AuxBoxes (LMA-3). Giving me 17 channels. I am looking to expand it further.... and they more coming in the next two months, I jsut can't say what exactly.

Thanks Gurgen. I think I can use the stock screen with one of those navbox devices to display the monitoring. I'll check them out.
I want more power but keep going back and forth on the traction and $$$. At 42K miles on a 18 month old car, I have feeling my 100 mile daily commute would cause much wear and tear on any FI setup. But the 100 miles sure would be fun!

myG35ZX,
Let me know what medium you use to work with your nav screen, I too am going this route.

I just got my UTEC displaying on my Navi screen over the weekend.
I can view A/F, RPM, boost, knock, injector duty cycle, and a few other less important things that I can't remember right now. I would love to add fuel pressure and oil temp, but that probably won't ever happen.
I am using my laptop running through a Composite-->RGB converter. I have a 'special' switch that allows me to use the 'OK' button on my Navi to switch between OEM Navi and my laptop display. My 'special' switch also processes the 'OK' screen for me automatically!
