Will you make a kit for this? If not, how about a parts list?

You don't need a kit, just the right parts that are already availilble.

1. Laptop with composite output
2. Composite -->RGB converter
3. UTEC

There are a ton of Composite to RGB converters availible on the market.

If the UTEC communication protocol is published, making a converter that read in the data stream and generated RGB video would not be very hard. This would bypass the need for a laptop. If I had a UTEC on my car, that's what I'd do.

I'm surprised that there aren't more generic sensor to RGB video units out there now that more and more cars are shipping with displays.

It's not a difficult protocol (I would guess). It simply outputs ascii text that can be read directly by Hyperterminal. The software I'm using is third party and he figured it out.

Well then, that should be cake! If you only want a couple colors (say, orange and black) on the screen, you could just bit-bang the RGB with your favorite micro.

i'm planning on FI in the near future, and basically what i'm looking for is something i can run thru my laptop to datalog and show me some type of virtual gauges on the navigation screen (with at least AF, EGT, boost). can LogWorks be set to display the virtual gauges in fullscreen?

i was looking at the Innovate LC-1 wideband and the LMA-3 AuxBox... would that cover everything i'm looking to do?

did you right click and save to desktop and THEN only try to play. It's a weird encoding...won't stream.

I have an LM-1, LMA-2, LC-1, and TWO AuxBox's, and an XD-16 gauge... connected in that order. That's 17 usable channels.

The combination you mentioned wil get you a wideband plus 5 additional channesl. Research on their site the AuxBox...and download the AuxBox PDF manual and read it...you will learn alot from that alone, as well what the unit can do...it's versatile, extremely accurate, and race-level capability.

With the Auxbox, you can do EGT or CHT (you will need to get a separrate thermocouple (go to motorsportinnovations.com i belive...the link is on te innovate "tuner resources" section - 3rd party products) for EGT), RPM, Boost, accelerometer, or any of those individual channels can accept external 0-5v input channels, like from any of our sensors. Look here: http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/r...ecu_pinout.php for the g35 harness diagrams...i wrote that document myself.
