Trying to stay cool

I removed the Spilt Second Box from my coupe by cutting it out because Vortech wanted me to ship it out before sending a new one. I cut the connections closer to the ss box, so I could run the new one easier. Now the car won't start. Any body have any suggestions.

Cool

Yeah....when you put it back in, invest in the AutoSport wiring harness.

No more problems.

So this doesn't mean my stock ECU is toast? Shouldn't the car start without the piggy back computer?

If I'm not mistaken (I've never installed one myself) the piggy back is intercepting signals like timing and injector pulse modifying them and then sending out where they are supposed to go. Or vice-versa, it could also be intercepting sensor signals going into the ECU to trick it into doing something.

If you've simply "cut out" the SS box it's not surprising that the car doesn't start. Either signals that the ECU needs to see aren't getting to it (because the lines are cut) or signals that are supposed to be going from the ECU to the engine just aren't going anywhere.

What you said makes sense, but let me say something to clarify my prior statments, so I know we're on the same page. With the ss box I tapped into each of the needed stock wiring harness wires. When I cut the ss box out, the stock wires from the ecu still are intact to the stock wiring harness. Does that make sense?

Interesting. That doesn't make sense to me, but I honestly don't know enough about how it actually works to make further comment.

Are the wires from the ss box t tapped into the harness? Or are some cut like the spark and injector wires. When I wired my Autosport with the EU you have to cut the wire completely and one end goes to the input the other to the output.

That could be one problem cuz it wont get the signal....

Another problem could be... when you cut the wires I hope you didnt cut all at the same time or more than one at a time. Yes it sounds stupid but some people do stupid thing. If you cut more than one wire at a time Im pretty sure your fried something and good luck figuring out what it was.

Did you disconnect the battery before cutting the wires?

Are you sure none of them are touching, either each other or something else?

Sorry....all I can think of.

Place a call to someone very familiar with wiring the SS box like Sharif at Forged Performance.

Good luck.

The SS box sits between the ECU and the engine and it does intercept signals sent to the engine and modifies it. I had the same problem, but I figured out how to bypass the SS box while it was installed. I did this when I needed to remove the supercharger, but didn't want to remove the SS box. This was done by connecting certain wire colors together. The car won't start because it's not seeing MAF signal, etc. I can't go to my car, because I'm in Iraq. If someone posts the wiring diagram, I can tell you what wires need to be joined to get the car to start.

You have to reconnect the following SS box wires-remember to disconnect negative terminal at battery

Green to Violet
Blue to Blue/White
Yellow to Yellow/Black
Tan to Tan/Black
These are the signals from sensors to ECU that are normally intercepted by the SS box, reconnecting them will pass the signals through again.
