Motordyne beats SSV - FI test DONE!!!
there was def something wrong with your setup....you can just look at the stock style plenum and any of those plenums and tell they are restrictive....they have shown dyno sheets with almost +40-60 hp over stock plenums on FI applications...it doenst matter cause now there are going to be a bunch more plenums out there from the after market support anyway...and we can all fight over which one is better and prettier lol...
I know Ill get crap for the but the SSV or anything from that damn company is just crap.... Tony is a good friend and fellow track junky, but with that aside; I know he tests every mm of his products to make sure you get what you pay for.
I gained 28hp at the wheels with the 1/2" spacer along with my other mods. With my Procharger we are now putting 438hp, 371lbs of TQ....
The SSV looks sexy but when it comes to playing to win Motordyne is the winning ticket.

I'm running the SSV with a thermogasket
my vortech setup is running 435whp and 375tq on a dynodynamics dyno ...dynojet numbers would probably be a good 5-6% higher as far as tq goes
That's a lot of torque for a vortech on a stock blower
I'd probably gain some more power/torque with a spacer or crawford/APS plenum, but I think the SSV is doing an ok job and it has given me more mounting locations for other things in the engine bay since it doesn't take up as much room as the stock plenum footprint
I know for you G35 guys, you don't have a strut bar to take into consideration. I REALLY wanted to be able to use the stock strutbar on my Z. All the aftermarket ones aren't as good IMO because they have flexible joints.
I could run a spacer though...but at this point I'm not going to worry over the 5 tq that one of the small spacers would give me. The SSV weighing 10 lbs less than stock vs adding weight with a spacer and longer bolts probably acounts for what would feel like 1-1.5 tq due to less weight
The SSV is a POS though as far as the design of the openings of the runners. they just flare out

WELL - I've been Vorteched for about 6 weeks now. Have been able to tune the hell out of the car with the 3.33 pulley, but only with about 5-5.5lbs of boost. After checking everything over and over again, there was no culprit. the car was putting out 400HP and 324TQ, but I STILL wanted a few more pound of boost - after all, it was supposed to put out 8-9lbs. I also know that with my efficiency mods, I would loose 1 - 1.5 lbs of boost - just not 4-5lbs.
SO - I decided to change the manifold back to the MD and tested everything out - there was no boost change and actually slightly lower performance...so I put the SSV back on.
A few weeks later - we put on the 3.12 pulley. I easily expected 1.5 - 2 lbs of boost increase - what did I get....MAYBE a 1/2lb. So I checked all the vacuum lines, hoses (even changed all the clamps to t-bolt style), even pressure tested the gauge to make sure it was good...but still no additional pressure. I felt a power change - but not as much as I expected, and no boost change.
So with this is mind - I decided to change back the MD 1/2" spacer. We checked and tested the MREV+ and stock lower plenum as well. As soon as the stock plenum went back on - BINGO - 7lbs of boost! After tuning and testing, only to 5500RPM (I'll explain this in a sec) and the car gains 44 HP and about 32lbs. of TQ over the SSV!
So here's the thing with the 5500RPM's - I have a fuel delivery issue. It seems as though the in-line pump is not working properly, as when it was being dyno'd, the car went lean at about 5700RPM. So I'm now in process of troubleshooting that.
With all of this said - the car is tuned to basically be efficient to 5500RPM - giving me about 1700RPM left to make power and tune for.
I estimate that I would make another 1.5lbs of boost, carrying me to the 8.5-9 mark, while gaining an additional 30-40HP and 20lbs of TQ.
What I have deduced from the experiment and success - is that the SSV is only effective for FI to a point - about 5lbs of boost, maybe even less. The SSV was the best for ME for NA purposes of high HP readings vs. low-end TQ gains.
The MD product line is effective to AT LEAST 9lbs or so...likely more. It works excellently for both NA and especially FI.
For those of you that really know me - I don't make recommendations lightly and put my reputation out there for just anything...and this time I have to say with the utmost certainty, the Motordyne products are THE BEST OF BREED when it comes intake plenum modification options. There SHOULD be no other choice out there.
For those that do not know me - I have also tested the APS tallboy, Crawford and Kinetix V5's as well...none of them stand up to the results I have gotten from Motordyne! I will post Dyno's after I fix the fuel delivery issue and do the final tune within the next week.
So - TONY - man...you rock! Thanks for being and offering best of breed products!!

But I'll let you guys read it and decide for your self

My torque curves keep climbing with the HP. I posted the original dyno at my 'FI'd Beast gets Dyno'd' thread - you can see it there. Why mine would make more TQ than yours, etc...other than it being at AT vs. your MT - perhaps my mods, etc in comparison??? Also - as stated - those additional numbers are estimated - I'll know facts, likely, next week when I re-tune.
The thing I really disliked about the SSV was that it completely covered the tranny dipstick...almosts showing the SSV was designed for and ON an MT...perhaps that's why it doesn't work so well at all on my AT???
I don't know - but we'll all find out sooner or later...and with me...likely sooner.
Rick
P.S. the thing I liked most about the SSV was it's bling factor....

And here I thought we had an update on this thread.
Let it go and let others decide for themselves, as you suggested not two posts above. I appreciate anyone bringing to light false claims of an aftermarket manufacturer's part, but this has deteriorated into one member's claim that another is lying about his output. If you're going to counter every attempted response from him, without any move to accept any reply, then what's the point? You've made your opinion abundantly clear. Now let all those people who purchased Fast Intentions parts be the jury as to the products' effectiveness.
If it's not about those parts, but rather the personal claims of power, then where else can this go? I understand and appreciate what you said your original intent was, but it seems like you're still burning this thing just so you can continue with the pissing match.
Just start a thread of "These are all the lies" or something, instead of bumping every thread he's done. It'll be easier for others to avoid walking in and unexpectedly getting pi$$ on their shoes.

Lets just say I did do what you stated [ started a new thread ] They keep getting closed because he is a sponsor . It has NOTHING to do with what he sells . It has to do with him telling lie's to members of this site . Guys that dont know about F/I cars . Why he does it , is confusing to me [ boosting his EGO I guess ] . He told me to go thru his posts . I have been doing so and bringing back the threads so the guys that posted in them or read them know he is full of crap and lie's . The younger guys that dont know any better were looking up to him for advice . And how can you trust advice from someone that has trouble telling the truth
With the cost modifying the VQ and all the hype" being produce without proven results.
I welcome the fact, that BS'ers (ISMSOLUTIONS) gets called out.
Of course its your money and you can waste it anyway you want.

One thing I need to clarify is that, Motordyne (TONY) is a first class company, that produce great products, that have been proven to get results? Great investment for your money.
Happy holidays you all.
