spool up question

For all you FI guys I was wondering what rpms does your turbos hit full boost. Also will a single turbo or twin turbo spool up quicker? I know the type of turbo will effect the spool up ie. ball bearing vs non ball bearing like the greddy 18gs. Also for you quicker spooling guys do you guys notice power dropping off towards higher rpms? I know when I upgraded my turbos on my dsm from a big16g to 20g the spool up time was quite noticable. The 16g would hit hard and quick but kinda died out towards the top end. The 20g would lag but pull harder and harder towards redline.

Here you go...

From what I notice, not scientific, just some ruff estimates. NA d this is full boost, just hard pullback torque initiation...

Greddy 18gs - 4200 rpm - Capable of 600+WHP
PE - 2500 rpm - Capable of 400+
JWT BB530 - 2300 rpm - Capable of 500 WHP
JWT BB700 - 2600 rpm - Capable of 700 WHP
TN - 4500 rpm - Capable of 450 WHP
GT35 Single Custom - 3200 rpm -Capable of 450 WHP
APS GT28s - 3100 rpm - Capable of 600+ WHP (never driven)
Vortech - 4500 rpm - Capable of 500 WHP
Stillen - 1500 rpm - Capable of 350 WHP

Hope this helps and please remember these are only guestimations from-personal driving experience.

Peace.

turbonetics...4500??? you can't be serious???

on a 5th gear pull, I'm pretty sure I'm at full boost by just over 3000 rpm... I know I have 3-4 psi by 2500.

hmm yeah gearing could alter the results. Lets just say on a third gear pull what rpm do you hit full boost.

Check this link.

The chart doesn't provide boost numbers at certain RPMs but you can look at the hp/tq and draw your own conclusions. There is mention of where boost comes in the individual narratives.

the single kits are all laggy cause there is so much exhaust piping and flow b4 it actually gets to teh turbo...i would just put a 40 shot dry to spool up faster if anything...the twins have the best results for power....the superchargers are nice but you can still get a TT car to take of just as hard....and those greddy 18gs spool and keep boost the whole way...also you have to go ball bearing its the best option...the best turbos for a twin set up is dual ball bearing gt2860rs(disco potato)...nice spool and you can boost some good numbers out of them and they wont die out....

the smaller the turbo the faster the spool but more power with a larger turbo... Depends wat you want. I have small turbos and I spool up pretty quick.

Yes,

And amazingly enough, has very little turbo lag with the GT35.
