Turbo or Supercharger?

Hey does anyone know which one will work better on the G? I think turbo probably because it'll give upper speeds more boost. What do you guys think? Also does anybody know any links to purchase the turbo or supercharger? I've seen the turbo for sale before, but my friend just told me about a supercharger for the G. He might just be blowing smoke out of his ***, but hopefully someone here can clarify. Thanks!

Re: Turbo or Supercharger?

I would wait for more solutions to come out. A little insider information is a new supercharger is coming out that will be warrantied (36k miles/3 yr warranty on engine and supercharger servicable AT ALL INFINITI/NISSAN dealerships). I will let you know more info as it becomes "declassified". Sorry but the powers above me say to keep a tight lip on it. What I can tell you is that its a Eaton 90 roots type blower with dual water-to-air intercoolers with no hood or body modifications although a whole new intake manifold will be created with upgraded fuel rails and full length intake runners. Pricing will be around the $6000 range excluding installation. Be patient as I'm sure even better solutions will become available through other sources (both turbos and superchargers).

I forgot to mention that it will not be available till around February or March as they are still in the process of testing the design on a 350Z.
Edited by bought on 10/30/03 10:03 PM.

Re: Turbo or Supercharger?

hmm ,turbo with install will run 15000$+ (including all associated mods and tuning , <ie, wheels(cant use stock 245 rears with that much power, exhaust (cant use stock), forged internals(is u want 400+ at the wheels), gauges etc> . If you can spend 15000$ more on top of the car, why the did you buy a G35? (a rhetorical question!). Almost 55,000$ is another car price range.

Personally, I'm going supercharger bc I am not going to use forged internals or run crazy boost. Turbo'd z's are pushing 400 at the wheels with 8+ psi of boost. Tempting but nah

Re: Turbo or Supercharger?

Why do people insist on asking why others buy a G and then dump money into them? I know people modding Ferraris and Lambos that are getting dogged for it and it's ridiculous...People mod because they want their ride to be different and for the pride of not having some "out of the box" car that will never realize its full potential...Even the much-lauded M3 can be made better, and the mods aren't cheap...It isn't about price, it's about pride...

I agree. Modding cars is a hobby and like most hobbies it requires time, effort, hope, and some cash. After all isn't that why we're all on this board and typing in this topic (Technical and Modifications)? People take modding their cars to a different degree here...some will add a different air filter while others will change pistons, add turbos, change rims, etc. I know its a bit overplayed but "to each his own".
