cheaper to go custom?

Does anyone here have a custom turbo setup on their G? I'm trying to find the cheapest way possible to go FI but at the same time I want a quality setup. As far as i know most turbo kits are over $6000 and I was thinking maybe I could save some money by getting the parts individually and putting a kit together myself.

I will assume if you are asking this question you are not an experienced mechanic.

If you aren't, then cheap + custom = two things:
a) Unfinished project
b) BOOM!

I think you need to come to an understanding with yourself.... FI and cheap cant be used in the same sentence unless youre saying " It's not cheap to go FI"

I can honestly say I was one of the few to have the G when it first came out and with 1500 miles in the first week I took it to a custom turbo shop local to me. With great hook ups and everything at wholesale or below it was still going to run 7k for a custom build. This isnt your mom and pops shop either they build a few cars for Fast and Furious and plenty of show cars in the scene now.

The lower cost solution is going supercharger or single tubro. S/C if you have half a brain you can install it yourself to save some money. Turbo.... unless you have a lift good luck at least 1k for install. Hope you find a way to get it done man its the greatest feeling once youre boosted.

I disagree. I think that if you can weld and have some knowledge on fabrication, you can do it. A simple design would be use the stock mani's with a single turbo(ie turbonetics set-up). The most challenging part would be the cutting and welding of all the piping. If you don't have much time on your hands, don't do it. This would definitely be labor and time intensive. Just my $.02
