this looks like it will be a winning being that your able to keep your stock hood and get an engine and drivetrain warranty. the kit will be ready in 45 days.

very tempting if the warranty is through infiniti and they instal @ a fair price count me in. looks to be a much cleaner instal than the procharger kit.

 

are they going to have dyno chart before relase of kit? What and were the peak TQ will be, given the ~400hp@crank. TQ should be impressive <4000rpm with an M90.

interesting. but i dubt that the hole warrenty thing is true. How can it be. If it is damn were do i sighn up. I like the turbo kits but hell if i get a warrenty then screw turbos

 

IT is true that is what you are paying the extra 1700 dollars for. It has a price listed in Nissan's book. Anticipated to start shipping units in 45 days according to Jeff at Performance Nissan.

I REALLY REALLY DO HOPE... they will have one for the sedan. everysingle FI products were geared towards the coupe and the Z. for that last time.. please! dreamworkes! PLEASE!!!!

Currently there is a thread on My350z that is talking about it. Follow that to see what's up. Additionally, Alpine (the R&D guys for the S/C has previously done the R&D work on the TRD (toyota) factory S/C's which are factory warrantable. That is the precedent. The S/C will be CARB certified as well.

This Kit sounds too good to be true. Way to good to be true, but if it is true and I can find an extra 6.5k laying around then damn I want one!!

If (1) the warranty does indeed cover the engine and (2) it's not something that needs to be retuned every few weeks and (3) it's not overly loud during regular around-town driving then NO YOU WON'T!!!!

from what I read about alpine motorsports (in africa, the same guys who developed the Toyota factory s/c's) you can believe it.

The only downside is dreamworkes is a relatively new company, but if Nissan will honor the warranty it doesn't matter.

It will not be any louder than a s/c they have on the diesel pickups at the loudest. You can't hear that whine over the diesel chatter. It will reduce your engine lifetime unless you build the engine or only use WOT once in a while. But like someone said earlier, you are talking about the difference from 200k mile lifetime to a 150k lifetime or better.

The warranty was for Nissan, does that apply to Infiniti? I know it is the same company. Must we go to Nissan dealer and have them install then get them cover the warranty?

Ok, more info from my350z.com

One of the guys there called dreamworks and here is a transcript. The warrnty question and some tuning issues are addressed.

I just got off the phone talking to Dream Works. I spoke to a guy named Andy. Here is a brief overview of the conversation (Note, I am just asking questions and typing down his replies thus not passing judgement on what he says/claims):

1. Status of being Carb Legal: He claims this is what is holding up the release. They want to release it being CARB legal with warranty, in othewords, a total package. He said thet feel they will get it within 45 days thus expecting to release the SC kit in 45 days.

2. How did you estimate the 400hp at crank(332 whp ~95 hp increase for a Z)? He said they purchased their own Z, tested it at 5.5 lbs boost and that is what it put out. I did not ask him how they converted it from rwhp to crank hp. He said at this point, they are going for 5.5 lbs boost but it is not set in stone and that is why they are "fuzzy" on hp claims. They are hoping for more than 400hp upon rleease but not sure if it will be more or not. He promised dyno posts once they got it were they plan to produce it at (Boost).

3. Who is actually backing the engine with a warranty, you, Nissan, or a 3rd party? The company that will insure the "drivetrain" is called Del Financial. Yes, he said drivetrain, not motor and it is based on you keeping the boost set at their specs.

4. Some other SC'ers being released might be having some issues related to tuning and lean conditions at high rpm thus detonation. What is different about your system that would prevent this from occuring? DW's SC has an ECU upgrade, dual aux. injectors etc, we are making sure their is enough fuel delivery and proper tuning at all rpm ranges.

5. I have heard of compamies like Vortec but not DW. Give me a brief history of who you are: We use to just build race cars but have branched into this market. We are only specializing in the 350Z and Spec SER Sentra right now. Oue attitude is to enter a small market, do a great job on releasing a product done correctly and build from there.

6. Does your SC allow for the strut tower brace (350z only) to be kept? Good question. I know it was on at one point, off another. I am not sure. I will have to get back to you on if we were able to keep it on. I do know the factory hood is a keeper.


Well guys, that was my first contact. Andy told me the top guys were "in a meeting" and I might want to call again to get more information later. I did stress the importance of them keeping us updated and that we have a lot of question regarding the system, tuning of it, and fuel management. Hopefully, we will get more information as the time to release it becomes closer.
