Stillen Stage II

Stillen Stage II

Finally got the stillen stage 2 complete. Had the car dynoed at AAM on their dynojet. The HP number looks good since it's a 5AT, but what's with the tq number? That's way low. Anyone have this issue?? Any thoughts??

HP 285.05
TQ 252.77

I was thinking maybe some sort of belt issue, but it's running very quiet and obviously it's making the hp.

Edit: My a/f is also running above 12.0 from 3.4k to when they cut off at 6.4k.

stage 2: $5200
fiberglass hood: $600
paint: $450
install: $900

Few other little things.

Congrats on getting the Stillen SC - don't you just love the sounds, sight and feeling of it!? Once you go SC, there's no turning back! Love mine. Congrats again and enjoy!

Yeah, I love it! It's nice cause it's pretty quiet at idle or full throttle. All you hear is that great whine...sounds so good.

Did you get yours dynoed? What are you putting down?

I guess I'm good2go now too...

I was planning to get it dynoed in SD but it was cancel. There's one again at the end of the month that I'm going to. Funny thing is that I've never had it dynoed. Curious to see the numbers. You're absolutely right, Stillen sounds the best and only whines when you hit it - I heard the Vortech, didn't like it as it hissed and whine at a very high pitch from the get go - that's a no go. Hey, ours is good2go!

i had the same issue with torque #s. you have auto. on top of that you probably doing the dyno in 5th gear. by then, you have no torque or i should say it's not as noticable as 1 & 2 gear.
get yourself a cold air intake, it will make the supercharger even louder (if you want that). i would also recomend upgrading your trans for better shifting. 1 & 2 gears go very fast.

I actually wasn't there when they dynoed it so I don't know what gear they used. Why they would use 5th, makes no sense to me. Use 3rd or 4th right? I would hope AAM would know better than that.

I guess my issue is I've seen guys post dyno numbers here, similar yr & 5AT, and they're claiming 280-290 hp & tq. Regardless, I'll be going stage 4 by Fall.

Btw, it's hard, damn hard, to stay out of boost...

Edit: Here's the flywheel info from Stillen's site...
280HP VQ35DE Engines

STAGE 1 - 369 hp / 305 lbs/ft Flywheel
STAGE 2 - 382 hp / 313 lbs/ft Flywheel
STAGE 3 - 410 hp / 339 lbs/ft Flywheel

If stage 2 is inly putting out 313 tq at the flywheel, how are guys putting down 280 tq at the wheels??

^^^ Those Stillen numbers are very generous to say the least.
I have dynoed a veriety of Stillen SC stages and configurations (some that are readily available and some that were custom made) for these cars. Have also used many types of dyno's for these numbers. The most WHP that any Stillen (eaton M62) SC'sd car (on a stock motor) will make is around 340-350 WHP, tatal, period.


Andy, (good2go) I can run your car on the dyno the next time you are in SD. get back to me on that.

actually, mine was dynoed in 4th gear. my car, being awd auto, was hard to dyno in the first place. we ended up shifting gears manually and it helped a little bit. the type of dyno def would make a difference

Yeah, I don't know. I'm going to have Infiniti look at the exhaust on the car tomorrow to see if there are any leaks. Other than that, I don't know why it would be running so low on tq. Makes no sense.

The place I had it installed and dynoed at said that: "On the automatic transmission its hard to get a good low-end/midrange torque number, they usually read a bit lower than their stick shift counterparts."

A bit lower?? I'm missing 30 lbs. Does that make sense?

Congrats on getting your Stage 2 Chrlesmd.

Hope you figure out what is with the low tq. Because I wanna go stillen soon.

Your going to have that crave to to upgrade to stage 3 or 4.

Thanks man. Even w/ the missing tq, the car pulls well. 0-60 comes quick. As far as the crave goes, I already have it...

so let me get this straight, you spent $7k+ to add ~50 hp/tq?

shoulda gone TT with that money...and if not turbo, then at least a Vortech...stillen is a waste of money imo, but if you like it more power to you
