Of course, the chances of having TWO bad VB's is nearly impossible...guess what...the third VB actually WORKED!! And the car seems to be shifting very very nicely now....100% bone stock VB at about 330whp on our Dyno Dynamics.

Wolf has been driving the car for a few days, so hopefully he will report back that everything is OK. I am still keeping my fingers crossed on this one!
Wow! That's good news.

IMO, you should absolutely stay below 400. I would highly recommend not only the VB upgrade but a new torque converter to handle the power AND a good trans cooler. The heat will kill the tranny quick.

Again the tranny is rated in lb/ft not HP so just look at torque curve to make sure ~~~333 lb/ft max [flywheel tranny input shaft] for reliable service.

In the South or AZ, Texas with an update TC an auxillary cooler half the size of radiator would be in order.

The dual lockup clutches won't handled much extra.

Good guidlines, but all of the ones we have done are making well over 333ft/lbs at the flywheel. I think Ron is about right...400whp (and a comparable amount of trq), give or take is a pretty comfortable number. Notwithstanding the issue with had with Wolf's car, I havent heard any complaints from the 400whp and under crowd.

Question my story

Sharif claims on 3/13/07 that I left out key information. This is true. However the only reason I was posting was the fact that I/he was having serious problems with my car. In addition, on that post Sharif goes on to defend/explain himself. Excellent!

There are two sides to every story.

I have never told my story.

In my possession I have pages of detailed notes with dates, times and quotes from all my dealings with Sharif.

My car is working fine...it is breathtaking. It was worked on by another shop (after the Forged experience).

(By the way the help from the friendly Infiniti dealer referenced on the Sharif 4/26/07 post was initiated 100% by me.)

I can tell my car story or not I really don't care. I hesitate because Sharif is so "loved" and is so good at "spin" that I really don't see the point. If Sharif's customers and friends think he is the greatest thats excellent...I am not in this group.
.................................................. .............
The only reason I wrote the above response is that just read Sharif's post of 4/26/07 concerning my picking up my carfor the first time...it all sounds so rosey.

It was not rosey at all. I became so desperate to get my car back and out of his shop that I did what ever it took to get it done...! I just got tired of Sharif telling me that he did not know what to do and that he was spending his money... (The money issue confuses me. If a car is broken because of work/parts performed in the charge of a shop who is than responsible to pay to have it fixed/made right???)

The vb that finally got the car running was an OEM vb insisted upon by the dealer/master tech. Other than transport Sharif did not pay for the master tech's time (it took several hours...fone calls etc.) or the service bay where the throttle problem was resolved.

The car continued to have problems after I got it back and I soon thereafter had an other shop get it right...very straight forward.

In addition when I got the car back my key did not work, there were new nicks in the paint, an Advan wheel was destroyed and there was damage under the car...did Sharif unadvertantly cause this??? I do not know...I do know that I did not...

Signed, Lose/Lose

no one here is saying you are wrong. there are unique situations like jeremy said that always pop up when you work on cars. no matter how many you have done, theres always that 1 car that causes problems. so yes, there are tons of stories of sharifs great work and very few about issues. no shop has a perfect reputation but its what they do after that matters. i think everyone here has seen sharif put forth a lot of effort (and $) trying to solve the problem. sorry you dont see it that way but hes a tuner not a magician.

Wow....

My only question after reading all of this is how's the car holding up and has the O.P's opinion changed in the past year and a half?

Take this for what its worth.... I purchased a valve body upgrade from a competitor of Forged Performance in the same area and same state. I did the core charge where they send me an upgraded valve body, then I send them back mine. I had an Infiniti dealership do the work for me. After the valve body was put in the car it was a lame duck, accelerated but at a very slow pace, virtually had no power. I contacted the place where I purchased the upgrade and they basically told me that they could do nothing for me except send the valve body back and they would refund my money, they wouldn't cover labor.....

So I ended up putting my valve body back in my car and it worked fine. Where I purchased the valve body upgrade from wouldn't help me out by giving me a break on another valve body or anything.

So I contacted Forged Performance and plan on them doing the valve body, dyno and tune for the Vortech that I have yet to install.

After reading the posts from Forged Performance I can't wait to meet those guys, especially after how they stood behind their work. I will never do business with the other shop again.

...small update

quote from Tiguy99-
"Wow...."

"...how's the car holding up and has the O.P's..."

The car is in my garage/shop in a very disassembled condition.

In June of 07...shipped to SGP and we all know what happened(s) there. I may have been one of the last ones to get out of there "alive" but certainly the work- far from satisfactory...spent a few days there with Mark...what goes around comes around. I could write a book on the car's 6 mo. time there...

Currently, I'm learning and gathering as much info as possible on FI and the VQ... I've traveled to and visited Sam at GTM, Tuan at GRD, Corky Bell at Bell Engineering, JWT and others. Sadly, (IMHO) and in the words of Corky "if one is really serious about their car buy the tools and do it your self". To this day I am still finding s**t work performed by third parties on my car.

In the aviation sector there are detailed "protocols" for any and all repairs and maintenance performed. I am following these protocols/oem or better in the rebuilding of my car.
