APS turbo chargers...who make them?
APS turbo chargers...who make them?
Hi all,
Do you know whom made the APS single turbo kit?
APS of course
Real question is.....whom made the turbo itself?
Someone's gonna tell me to look at the turbo and would be able to tell
WRONG!!!! nothing is written nor having any tag on this turbo.
I need a replacement but no luck finding it. APS dealers don't carry them. I'm still waiting for APS from down under to respond.
Can someone pitch in!!!!
Thanks

Yeah Garrett makes them, but APS makes the ball bearing portion of them.
If you fry an APS turbo, you'll end up having to go through APS at some point for their proprietary ball-bearing parts
You won't be able to have Garrett completely fix them or rebuild them yourself

Thanks for the infor!!!
I swear my single turbo charger does not have any thing written on it as twin turbo as pictured on their web!!!!
No one can fix them....must be repaced by APS only.....thanks again!!!
I don't know where are you located, but contact JapTrix racing there authorized APS dealer. Plus those guys are expert when it comes to G35 & 350Z.

i am pretty sure garrett or any garrett authorized dealer can rebuild the turbo. APS uses GT2871r turbos for the standard kit.
when I was at Dynocomp one time who is an APS dealer, they had a car with two burned out turbos. Jon (the tech) said he'd normally order the parts and repair it himself but he couldn't because only APS made a certain part inside the turbo - and I think it was the ball bearing part.
He also said he wasn't able to just ship them off to Garrett either because of the APS parts. So the owner had to wait something like 3-6 weeks until APS fixed the turbos or before APS was able to ship the ball bearing parts, I forgot but it was a pretty long wait where everyone had to wait on APS

That would suck. Talk about a PITA since they are sooooo far away.
Unfortunately I know the answer to this as I just had both my APS turbos rebuilt, the cartridge is the portion that APS has a special combo for and can only come from them, it is like a hybrid which is not carried by Garrett.
As I did not want to waste time sending mine over to APS to get rebuilt I told Sam to get the closest off the shelf match from Garrett. I ended up with a slight larger or bigger turbo at the end of the day but I ain't complaining.
Price is 1250 per turbo
Unfortunately it was not my fault that the turbos were bad but the previous owner.
