Boost PSI vs. Fuel System PSI
Boost PSI vs. Fuel System PSI
Okay guys...evaluate this statement:
For every pound of boost (delivered either by turbo or super), the fuel system should be able to accomodate 10 additional pounds of operating pressure.
Doing our weekly review of Saturday A.M. auto shows, one of the "gurus" was discussing fuel systems and made this statement. Is it valid? How many pounds does the stock G35C fuel system deliver?

Re: Boost PSI vs. Fuel System PSI
Only when you are using the increased pressure to deliver additional fuel during the opening cycle of your injectors. You can only deliver so much fuel by increasing the fuel pressure through stock injectors. As you increase horsepower and thus require additional fuel, you will need larger injectors.
I think our stock fuel pressure is around 48 psi.
BUT our fuel system, as in most new cars, is a Returnless system, meaning there is not a return line that runs back into the gas tank. By clamping off this Return line, it increases the pressure in the fuel rail. Therefore you have to highly modify the "Gs" system to run higher pressures. The pump has to be changed, along with the pressure regulators.
So as we modify our "Gs" for additional power, a return system with an adjustable regulator is the best and safest way to go. Not the cheapest though.

Re: Boost PSI vs. Fuel System PSI
i don't know the answer to your question but stock pressure:
Fuel pressure at idling kPa (kg/cm2 , psi) Approximately 350 (3.57, 51)
Better Life thru Chemistry
