In CA, if a cop pulled me over and wanted to pop my hood - (from all the vortech sounds this would be inevitable), he'd see the CARB sticker, but notice all the different fuel system stuff and send me off to "fix" it.

This has happened to people with modified vortech setups in CA

in addition to the fuel system, I'm not using the stock cats or stock vortech pulley which would also fail visual inspection. I don't think cams are CARB approved either, but they probably wouldn't notice those. Also I don't know if the rpms you set your idle to has any bearing on emissions testing in CA or not either...
Exactly my point!! Cali is a PITA when it comes to this stuff. I have already had a cop check under my car for cats (converters not the animal ). So I am not gonna take any chances. The power the Vortech kit makes as is will be just fine for what I want.

the vortech, headers, exhaust, spacer/plenum, and tune would make a nice improvement in power and still be completely CARB legal. You can maybe even try pushing things with the 3.12 pulley and go back to the 3.33 when it's time for emissions. I seriously doubt a cop would know the difference between pulleys, but emissions testing will

Though, honestly the stillen kit would probably be a faster overall setup at low power levels and have more overall power since you won't be able to really open up the vortech and stay CARB legal

You can always invest in a 3.9 final drive with the vortech though. That'd be perfectly legal and give you some good oomph. With the stillen though, it might be trickier to get traction with the 3.9

do they really look at the pulleys on the vortech for emissions? Do they like look up the carb # and see exactly what the carb says or do they just look to see a carb #?

I don't know if they look at the pulley or not, but wouldn't be surprised if they did

I doubt they look at much beyond the CARB number. The big test is the sniffer.

very true. How is a cop going to know if the rail is modify or not or if u have bigger injectors or the pulleys are smaller? Passing emissons is the only big test.

if they see an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator, a cop will issue you a fix it ticket and require you to be inspected. I know a guy it's happened to
