TT v. ST v. SC

Ok, I'm still new to the boards so if this has been discussed you may start the flaming now

I just got my 03 AT coupe and would really like to know where to channel my money in the next few months. I would like to get the most bang for my buck but from reading about turbos (which I really wanted to go for) i see the extras in computers, dyno tuning, and other "little" things makes it high maintence and expensive.

I assume this would be the same with ST, maybe a little cheaper start-up cost but I still need the computers and extras for it.

With the SC, it sounds to me like a plug and play compared to the TT setup. But I also see that it cannot produce the same HP gains as the TT.

So I will have a chunk of money this summer, 5k range and I will be able to throw more into it in the future, but would a SC kit that I can later upgrade be a good start, or hold out and save up for an entire built engine/ TT setup?

many threads just like this one will provide you lots of details on possible options. i'll just say $5k is low for FI but if your expectations are reasonable (under 350-375 whp) it might be achieved with a used kit.

For 5K, do nothing more than save up, unless you get a used system.

For a *complete* kit, meaning the SC/ST/TT, Gauges, labor, tune, any upgraded fuel systems etc.

I would have atleast 8.5k ready to spend within a small time frame.

.

??? The only SC that is a plug-N-Play is the Stillen SC. You're lucky to have 350WHP on that kit. Even Stillen will cost you close to $7K+ with the Hood and paint.

I say you find a used TN kit (3000ish right now I think) + utec + wideband + boost gauge + tune... around your budget and best bang for the buck....

Now if you think you'll want more than 400 to the wheels, wait....

If he wants to be CARB legal, this kit will not work for him. It's either the Stillen or the Vortech SC kits then because they are the only CARB legal options in Cali. IMHO, Vortech FTMFW!!

If I moved to Florida, I wouldn't be doing a Vortech. I would build my engine and TT the shiet out of my G!
