Man, if you got the money then go for it. The RB is definately a better starting point then the VQ. It doesn't matter how the extra weight and position of the motor throws off handling if you don't care about it. Even if it does bother you you can always do some suspension work.
I think its creative and something that would get you more attention then simply slapping a TT onto the VQ. This is probably one of the reasons alot of people don't want you to do it.
8k or 15k, if you got the bucks, do it.

sourcing an engine is not the problem. install of the engine is not the problem. making an engine that's been sitting in a dumpster for years out in the open, is the problem. if you source an engine, it's best to always check it inside and out. and more than likely, the cylinders will be scuffed, the pistons will have some rust from the valves and there will be a lot of gunk to clean out. all in all, you will have to open up the engine regardless and replace most if not some parts to make sure the block cranks and works flawlessly in optimum conditions.
with that being said, you will have to pay far more than 8k out of your pocket. rehoning the block will cost you a pretty penny and so will replacing parts and blueprinting the assembly. if you have the funds, go for it... however, it's not as feasible as you think.
the block is really heavy and long, and is not really considered a gem item for our cars. it's truly a unique modification, if anything else. suspension mods will only do so much on our stock cars. it won't work any better for additional 300+ weight at the front end (also add in the turbos and accessories for more precise weight gain).
anyway, good luck!

Then maybe 1500 to install, throw in the intercooler etc., injectors, A NEW CLUTCH, a new fuel pump, tuning etc. you'll hit 8k very quickly
Anyways, to the OP - Shoot a PM to jeremy at the performance factory in orlando. He is always doing crazy stuff at his shop, im sure he would be up for the challenge! It would make his business look awesome as well!

EDIT: before i get flammed im not saying this is the best idea, but if he wants to do it...why not support hit? Also, i was saying 800 not on stock turbos, fuel pump, ext...i was talking about a brand new RB with stock INTERNALS.

I don't think so. RBs need injectors, ecu and a host of other mods after only about 450hp. Stock internals aren't good till 800hp. Only the mightly 2JZ is capable of those big numbers stock.

I was refering to rods, heads, pistons, and that stuff. Those RBs are very strong engines. Sure you will need fuel accesories, tunes, turbos, but i think that the RB can handle give or take 800 without having to go internal.
2jz is indeed very strong, but both engines are very capable.

I've done this swap on a S14. The RB26 will not hold 800hp on stock internals. The highest ever on stock internals was 600hp and that was with C16 from some dude in Germany.
This swap will cost you about 12 g's in the end even if you do it yourself.
The motor is 4500, then if you wanna stick with twins two garretts are gonna cost you about 2500 bucks for about 650-750hp, internals are about 3000-4000, that's 10-11 grand plus other stuff that's gonna break ie oil pump, water pump, etc... Don't forget the RB25 tranny your going to have to get because the modifications you have to do to use the RB26 tranny are rediculous.
You need motor mounts too, custom oil pan, new suspension for the added weight, driveshaft, and I'm probably forgetting some things.
I picked up the RB26 out of a R33 GTR and it was in decent condition but needed a new water pump and oil pump and the turbo's were shot.
Anything over 450 on a stock block RB26 REQUIRES larger turbos because your going to blow up the stock ones, fuel supply, and a good tune.
I'm not trying to discourage you or anything but I just want you to realize how expensive this is going to be.
Also when are you going to actually use anything over 700hp to the wheels on the streets? A G with anything over that isn't going to handle too well. A G with 600hp won't be much better without a really good suspension, chassis reinforcment, and some really wide tires. You've gotta remember the new vettes have 505hp to the crank which is like 440-450 hp to the wheels and they don't even handle that well and they have an actual frame that's fairly rigid. It's american junk though but it's stock suspension and frame is way better than a G's cause a G is a uni-body. Have you ever seen high-hp supras? They flex like crazy.
I think 700hp would be a good goal on a fully built, cyroed, balanced and blueprinted VQ35. You'd get better spool up on the VQ along with more torque and better handling characteristics than a RB26. I'm currently in the process of TT my VQ with the JWT kit and I'm doing a full build, cryo, and balance and blueprint, and stroking it and looking at about 650 rwhp and about 750 lbs of torque, possible more, and trust me, you will blow pretty much anything on the streets away with that amount of power.
If you like straight line racing, go with the RB as it has more high end potential, but if you wanna through some curves in there stick with the VQ.
You don't see many 1000hp supras taking turns do you??
EDIT: Ok, I just found the turbo story with the guy's G coupe that has a RB26. He's pushing 620 to the wheels but he had to have his rods shot-peened and his crank knife-edge honed. Might as well go with new internals cause those two mods to the stock parts aren't very cheap.
