Also when are you going to actually use anything over 700hp to the wheels on the streets? A G with anything over that isn't going to handle too well. A G with 600hp won't be much better without a really good suspension, chassis reinforcment, and some really wide tires. You've gotta remember the new vettes have 505hp to the crank which is like 440-450 hp to the wheels and they don't even handle that well and they have an actual frame that's fairly rigid. It's american junk though but it's stock suspension and frame is way better than a G's cause a G is a uni-body. Have you ever seen high-hp supras? They flex like crazy.
I think 700hp would be a good goal on a fully built, cyroed, balanced and blueprinted VQ35. You'd get better spool up on the VQ along with more torque and better handling characteristics than a RB26. I'm currently in the process of TT my VQ with the JWT kit and I'm doing a full build, cryo, and balance and blueprint, and stroking it and looking at about 650 rwhp and about 750 lbs of torque, possible more, and trust me, you will blow pretty much anything on the streets away with that amount of power.
If you like straight line racing, go with the RB as it has more high end potential, but if you wanna through some curves in there stick with the VQ.
You don't see many 1000hp supras taking turns do you??
EDIT: Ok, I just found the turbo story with the guy's G coupe that has a RB26. He's pushing 620 to the wheels but he had to have his rods shot-peened and his crank knife-edge honed. Might as well go with new internals cause those two mods to the stock parts aren't very cheap.

Thats the truth. Thats why I started with a suspension build before I started with the rest of the car. I have driven in cars with loads of HP (Supra 900rwhp) and it felt like I was driving on ice. The car flexed like it was made out of plastic also.

RB26's will happily touch 600HP on stock internals, but it's your wallet it'll blow first.
Like already mentioned, first thing is to maintain the engine, new pumps, belts, etc.
If you're good with a soldering iron, just buy a Nissan RB26 manual and make up your own loom, joining plugs, etc.. DIY styles. Cheap and aslong as you follow the book it works.

And there are more 7xxrwhp stock short block RB26's out there. No the RB26 isn't going to last like the 2jz but but to throw 600hp out there is ridiculous.
Also people whine about the RBxx in the 240sx. Yet these are the people who have never driven one. A good portion of the extra weight is in the tranny and so a good portion of the weight is behind the foward wheel center line. Yes there will be extra weight foward of the line but hardly anyone is going to notice that and even more so a G driver.
