aps tt finally on the car, but disappointing dyno numbers

hey guys,

so after almost 3 weeks and a lot of little problems here and there (missing parts for gauges, turbo touching steering column, etc.), i finally got the car back today. everything seemed fine, but when we dyno'd it, it only pulled 301hp. needless to say i was disappointed. mods are: mrev+, aps tt, aps 3.5" tp. it was running rich @ 9.1. they think it's because the unichip was mapped for 91octane. any ideas why the figure would be so low? or was i expecting too much? and if i can get the chip re-mapped for 93, where should i get that done (probably ship it off since nobody in the austin area seems to work with these)? TIA

You def are running way to rich and that will have a bearing on your power.I would ditch the unichip and get a utech, more people can tune it and its much more common.

I would get a better tune. I believe I had that same issue. I have the greddy twin turbo setup with all bolt ons including straight pipe with the greddy evoII exhaust system. I dynoed at 300 lbs with greddy blue ecu. Then upgraded to skunks plemum spaced and fcon pro tuned by jotech motorsports in garland tx. No its pushing 350 whp at 6 lbs. and 400 whp at 10 lbs.

yeah, the guys at the shop are pushing for fcon pro right now. but after dropping the cash for the turbo/install and tires next week i'll probably think that one over. if anybody knows where i can get a good deal on a utech or fcon that would be great. so far they quoted me 2k for fcon installed (not tuned). oh, and how much oil pressure are you guys getting at peak? i was driving today and it seemed higher than it was yesterday (40-60). sry, i'm new to the FI world TIA

Tuning is definitely the key bro. Just throwing on a T/TT/SC is hardly ever good enough. The proper combination of parts and a proper tune is the key to not only extracting as much hp as possible but to also making sure that you are doing it safely and reliably. You definitely need to find a good tuner.

I agree...definately a tuning issue with the Unichip. Most people ditch it for the UTEC or FCON. You should be close to 400whp with a retune, and better EMS. Good luck!

Or a better Tuner 9.1 is way way way rich and I'm more worried of the side effect than the power loss. If your tuner can't get your AF in the low 11's then it's their fault and not the EMS. Find someone how to tune the Unichip coz 9.1 way rich. Getting an Fcon is not always the solution.

What Fcon is this (Vpro or IS) I'm pretty sure it is IS for that price but I wouldn't pay 2000+ for a PIGGY BACK system

My oil pressure goes to High 50's or even low 60's on WOT.

2000 + tuning is for the vpro. i'm sure of this. also, i was looking at my oil pressure and it seems to be getting all the way up to the 80s not even when it's WOT. any ideas? i'm going to go back to the shop today, just wanted to go in there with some ideas from the boards. thanks

I'm sure it is for the VPro. The IS costs about the same as the UTEC.

2000 with install is not a bad price knowing Sharif and even GTM charge 3K for tune and install. Ask them if how much if you want to add the Knock Amp with the VPro.

Still with power below 400whp Unichip should be able to handle it and they should be able to tune this or at least correct your AF #. It look like they installed everything and just ran what ever Map is in the Unichip

I thought you were charged close to 1700 with install and Tune. Maybe someone else but I read something from m350z about $1700 price tag for the unit/install/tune.

Hmmm . . . no it wasn't me. I had everything done at one time so I spent a lot more than that!
