I need to go for a test drive but waiting for new tires!

On a side note, I was going to remove my air filter to clean but I noticed that there was a hose connected to it? Is that part of the vortech kit or is that part of my catch can? In any event, the hose was on so tight there was seriously no room for me to yank it out. I tried for about an hr and gave up. Why does everything have to be so cramped... sigh
Your belt has stretched pretty well. If you have bottomed out the adjustment, you should get the next belt down, like a 1/4" smaller, but no more than a 1/2" at most. This will give you more adjustment room.

The breather in the air filter is normal. This breather hose used to go to the stock air box. It has nothing to do with the oil catch can system. It is a royal pain to remove though...agreed!

My blower is coming off in a week'ish and I'll be installing a catch can in-line on that hose to further filter out oil vapors. It's being rebuilt bad seal.

thanks for the reply. I didn't know if the hose was normal or not because I bought a new filter from vortech since mine was so old and dirty, but the new one didn't come with a hole for the hose? I guess i'm supposed to just drill my own?

They sent you the wrong filter. Why did you need another one so quickly?

You can cut a new hole...but can't the old one just be cleaned and re-oiled?

I'm going to do a power pipe setup - so I'll have a nice big 9" filter that will be easy to change in the front wheel well.

It's actually a no brainer. Cost is about $100 total and about 2 hours labor.

All you need is a 4" 90 degree elbow of 4-layer silicone hose. Cut one end so that you can install to the front of the blower. When looking straight at the blower, the rest of the hose will go basically to about the 5:00 angle.

Install a 6" 45 degree bent piece of aluminum to bridge the silicone to the new filter...your done.

Filter can be changed from under the car...it'll get all the cold air it needs and wants - with rain protection.

I got a new filter from Vortech awhile back as well... I drilled that hole myself also... I do not think they come pre-drilled.

If you take the filter off the blower and angle it down twards the wheelwell you have a better angle on getting the breather hose out... You need to wiggle it back and forth to loosen it up then torque it to one side and pop it out... I agree it is a pai n in the butt!

I am contemplating re-routing my AC lines and cutting a hole in the core support to bring my air filter out front on top of the Intercooler

Hey Lazee... When gettin the filter out make sure you turn you wheels all the way to the right and take the 3 push pins out that attach the wheel well to the bracket.

reach up thru there and pull it down... dont try to take it out from the top or you will bend the crap outta the filter elements... Thats why I bought a new filter... I could not stand to look at the filter all bent up.

Wow..... If you were in AZ I would drive out and help you with it. I have saved alot of $ doing things myself...

Next thing I need to tackle is to buy a spray gun and learn to do bodywork and paint.

Is that a Reichard racing pulley? If so, how do you like it and what size is it? I have a 2.8 in my garage but I heard they don't fit so I never attempted to put it on.

I like your cut design, I painted my core support so I cant cut it like that... I am going to try to route it out and on top of my intercooler.

re: Pulley - I had that ultra grip custom made locally here in LA. It's a 2.59 pulley.

Re: routing out the front - not doable. You'll have to flip the condenser around, so the pipes come out the passenger side, and then route them under the car and backup up to the condenser. Been there, researched that, not worth $1000 minimum. It's a non-issue for the Z's. The turbo kits are only 3" pipe and lower to route, so those work...not there 4" Vortech's though ;-)

To get tot he front, for fresh air, you have to go around the core support, via a 90 degree turn off the Vortech.
