Here is what I have sitting at home. Going to try to work this into a CAI for the vortech while still trying to have some water protection.

Works like a champ and increases cold air contact as well to the filter. I am doing cold air through the fender well though, in a week or so. I expect to pickup some boost as well.

Butterfly valve

You may consider an old timer's trick using a butterfly valve try this link:
http://www.cranevalve.com/cl88.htm

just an off the wall idea for your CAI to avoid sucking water.

Well as soon as I went to the cold air intake I saw a big increase in my gas mileage. Which is nt saying much because my gas economy was horrible. That small vortech intake is horrible. But like you said it may be different because your built.

Before CAI-daily driving mostly highway - ~250-260

After CAI - daily driving mostly highway - ~300-310

OK - make it 550 inj, 10.5lbs of boost (more soon), cams and heads, some intake work, full exhaust, etc...

Minor differences ;-)

this is the on going saga with this kit. this is really the only heart ache. (good trade of due to super low maintance required)

i have when i first got the kit about 2 years ago tightened the belts to tight and it snapped. sooo watch out when you do this..

i found out that after about 500 miles on your new belt you find the "sweet spot last about 5000k before you need to tighten. easy stuff after a few times....

to bad my freakin blower is out for maint....
