There is one thing I will agree on and that is that they do charge more per hour than many other shops but on the other hand you really can not compare rates from east coast to west coast shops directly but only those within Cali.

Down time is unfortunate but if you see how many cars they have in the shop at one time then it's no surprise why some jobs take longer than others. If people would stop sending their cars to GTM then maybe the turnaround would drop of course it also shows how much people trust their cars at GTM.

There is always going to be pluses and minuses for every shop but if the pluses out way them then it is all good for the consumer in the end.

^very true...like I said this was not an attempt to jab at GTM in particular. I was just expressing my frustrations with lost time and $$$ when you leave your car in the hands of others. Too bad we all can't be skilled mechanics

WTF?!?!?!? Just to clear things up, my car is back on the road and has been for almost 2 weeks now. The extended down time was due in part to (1) a mix up with Vortech and (2) work that I requested that GTM do. I have never heard or read a bad word ever about GTM except for people complaining that they are too pricey. They never forced me to do anything. Everything on my G is something that I requested and asked them to do. And like Urban said, the downtime is due to the number of cars they have at the shop that they are working on because they are one of the best and most reputable shops. They not only work on G's and Z's but also Evo's and STI's. So if you want work done by GTM, yeah, you are gonna have to wait because there are a lot of people in front of you in line.

Hexxum. I know Jay wasn't trying to jab at you. When I was @ the NOPI show I was talking with Marty and Viet and your SC install came up. Marty stated how much you spent for your set up and I was like damn!!!!! You know I'm looking to go SC in the future and I want all the info I can. GTM might be as good as you say. The thing that bothers me is that they share how much a person spends and what they are buying for their ride and that did not impress me. I just hope every dollar spent is worth it to you..Good Luck with all your modding.. I might go with Performance Factory.

No specific pricing or costs was given to either of us. Someone got a quote and that's all.

Gtm is a little more professional than that.

Once again, just to clear the air, I told Marty how much I spent at GTM. GTM would never disclose someone else's info or what they paid like that. The thing is, what I spent wasn't just for the SC install. GTM did a lot more work on my G than just the SC install. A LOT more. That's not to mention a lot of time on the dyno. It didn't just get a couple of pulls on the dyno. It was dyno tuned over about 3-4 days fine tuning and trying a few things out. I have absolutely no regrets with GTM or what I spent.

Well the comment wasn't trying to bash anyone. Or directed at anyone specific. It wasn't made clear where the fiquires came from or whose mouth. There was a dollar amount discussed and that was all I was stating. If in fact it did come from GTM then that was wrong. That was all I meant..Sheesh..

I was correcting an assumption on your part. Sheesh? Wow I thought I was pretty straight forward in correcting you.

So I can't be accused of re editing a post. As I think more about it now a different name was mentioned as the source to the price not Hexx's.

Quit holding the flame to the fire. When I said wassup@ extreme and no reply came back it ended right there...there are no assumptions....Period

All I will say is that a handful of people asked me what I spent and I told them. Like I said, there is no regret on my part at all. Could I have done everything cheaper? Yes, of course. No one is trying to claim GTM is cheap. But you get what you pay for and the constant communication between me and GTM and the ideas that Sam presents to me for what he would like to do and the customer service that I have already gotten, more than outweighs what I have paid to them. We still have more things planned for the future. None of which is being forced on me btw. Sam is a guy that has lots of ideas and is very enthusiastic about what he does. He has presented me a few plans for what he would like to do with my car and it is up to me whether I want to do them or not. As long as I know I am getting excellent work and service, I don't trip about money.

Couldn't you simulate backpressure by stuffing an obstruction into the exhaust such as steel wool or something and see if the boost levels go up past 7psi? Hate to see you swap exhausts just to find out that it didn't solve the problem.
