Right before my plan to install the 3.12 pulley this weekend my blower goes, oh well. Instead, I'll be removing it his weekend and sending it out to Vortech.

For those of you guys that had to remove the blower, was it difficult? Did you have to remove the mounting bracket? What did you do with the oil feed and return lines? Just strapped them straight up in the engine bay? I have parts left over from a previous CAI kit that I'll reuse for the intake. Just trying to figure out how much time I'm goining to need. Any tips or help before I tackle this would be appreciated? Thanks in advance.

FI feel so good when things are working, but when Chit happen it really Suck and the only way out is to just open your wallet again.

Welcome to the crew . Sorry to hear about your sc, turn around shouldn't be too bad from my experience (3 weeks). As for removal, yes you have to remove the whole bracket to be able to unbolt the sc. For your oil lines, just take the feedline and shove it into the returnline with a clamp to finish it off. Let me know if you have any other questions

 

You don't need to take the bracket off to remove the blower. You can remove it through the wheel well if I'm not mistaken.

 

is this a systematic problem with all vortech super chargers? Do they just go bad after a certain amount of time? or are they freak cases?

 

Freak cases / new blowers have had some issues I think... I have had mine on for 45K plus miles and NOT ONE issue with the blower at all... I have over 80K miles on my car.

 

Yup, just the newer ones. Heard this news a while ago from an insider that Vortech was going to get a lot of returns soon. They used a bad manufacturer for one of their parts.

 

Damn, sorry to hear that man, welcome to the defective vortech club! One thing you should definitely consider is demanding next day shipping since you're on the east coast. They finished repairing mine last week, but it still hasn't arrived because they shipped it ground (from CA I think). That will shave off almost a week.

Is it the gearing? That's what was broken on mine. On the bright side, it's fixable, so we won't get refurbs.

 

Its easier to remove the whole bracket and just unbolt the blower. Some of the bolts are hard to get to thru the wheel well. Sorry to hear, good luck with the repairs. This is the price we pay. I feel your pain........

 

It's definitely the price we pay . . . . but it is so worth it!! Having boost again is like . . . . . DAMN!!! I love the VRRROOOMMMM PSSSHHHH!!!

 

You can do it that way, but it will be easier and less time consuming to just remove the whole bracket then unbolt the blower.

 

Take the bracket off...that way your instake will actually fit!!!!
