Aps Tt?

perhaps its just me, im sure it is but how come people dont really seem to run the APS TT around here?

The Greddy seems to be the most popular and the JWT seems to be becoming more and more popular..but wheres the APS?

Reason I ask is because a lot of the guys who do run the APS TT seem to have some great 1/4 mile times

not too sure...here's what info i've gathered:

APS is a good kit, but b/c it's based in Australia, if a problem arises, their customer service is pretty bad.

JWT is an excellent kit, and they have awesome customer service. However, it's also available only through authorized dealers.

Greddy is a great kit, but it's also more of a 'tuner' kit, so you'd need a few other things in addition to what you get out of the box.

simple...price...vendors are whoring out the Greddy kits at ungodly prices making as little at $100 per kit so they can rape customers with $100/hour labor

I think you pretty much hit the nail on the head. The APS kit is awesome but if you have to try to warranty something defective, imagine the nightmare of having to deal with someone in Australia. The JWT TT kit is definitely gaining momentum but like you said, only anauthorized dealer can sell and install these kits. GReddy is more readily available and has more user friendly prices. Plus it's a great kit as long as it is installed by a shop/tuner that know's what they are doing. If I was going to get a TT kit, it would definitely be the JWT kit though.

Andy, given that Scott is starting to do JWT kits, would you still have gotten the Greddy TT given the chance to have either (I know theres a price difference)

the greddy kit is easy to get and puts out way more power than the APS kit.

the APS kit is in Aus and the vendors get hit on big time shipping. looking at 400-600 on shipping alone. while both good kits, i think the greddy is better all around.

i have plenty of both installed and i know the difference.

Can't say...I'm not really familiar with the JWT kit. I know a lot of people like it because it spools quick, but it doesn't product as much power. Being 5AT, spool isn't really an issue for me, and having a built motor allows me to go beyond what the stock JWT turbos can do. The only JWT I would do would be the BB700, but that costs $$. For me it's just not cost affective...but that's just me.

fair enough. thanks for the great info guys!

looks like the greddy TT has the #1 slot in the books of TT in the general scheme of purchasing them...but what about ST's??

one of the things I was looking at over vacation were the 1/4 mile times that the greddy TT put out compared to the Turbonetics ST. Obviosly, the driver has a lot to do with it and its said that the greddy TT has more power hands down. okay but when I took a look at 98intrigue's times of 12.2 with a turbonetics ST--jeeze, he beat a lot of guys who had the TT's

I believe he was running DR's. The TT's have more area under the curve, period. They are faster on paper, but driver has EVERYTHING to do with it. Oh, and DR's help too Also track conditions, etc. That is no doubt a great time, but put him in a TT car with DR's and equal max hp and I bet he'll be running high 11's.

You mean putting tires like this on your car isn't going to give you extra traction;

Just an example of a DR tire.

grip...60' on street tires = ~2.2 60' on DR's = ~1.7

Look at the 1/4 mile E.T. thread and check out the 60' of the cars on DR's or slicks compared to street tires...

You tell me if there's a difference
