I'm not sure if this has been clarified or not, but the batch of VT blowers going bad, are they new blowers, or blowers that have been driven for a good amount of time?

I remember reading Sentry's post and him saying that a basic mechanical understanding is good to have along w/ the Vortech. Either way, hope this all gets resolved soon, as I decided on twins, but started contemplating the VT blower again.

Brand new blowers tend to have these problems. The older kits are still going strong. There has been a lot of people lately who have been having problems.

It seems to be a bad batch of newer Vortechs. The older ones are actually running strong with minimal problems. Newer Vortechs purchased around summer time are the ones that are going bad like the plague.

Damn that really sucks. Vortech was the only really good; power producint; reliable supercharger for our cars. Yes the stillen and ATI are good, but nothing like the vortech was. They need to change back to the old blower style, and end this bad publicity. Its a shame, becuase they were one of the few s/c's that could stand up to the turbo kits.

The problem wasn't the blower. From what I have been hearing, it's with the bearing in the blower that's going bad. They must have switch to another manufacturer or style of bearing or something. So the actual blower is fine, it's just when the bearing in the SC goes bad, it causes the blades to start digging into the housing. I can't confirm that this is 100% true but it makes sense.

Ive had one of thier blowers on for almost 4 years now . Ive never made it through a full warranty without something going wrong with it . Be it the stock kit blower or a T-trim . I tihnk I have sent in a blower to them 5 times in that 4 year span . One time I got a blower back from them and before I got 50 miles on it , it had to be sent back again . If they are using cheap a$$ bearings , have horrible labor , or a quality control that is non existent . The company will not last long if they keep it up .

Now I see why you want to go turbo. Going turbo or an 08 Vette...hard choice. You know what I would chose! PF!

Yeah man, the turbo Gods are calling me. The only thing keeping me sane is that at least I have the fuel/electronics framework in place to do a swap with more ease. The vette is a sick car, but I can't get past my hatred for GM (long story). But I've heard that some people are getting 500 whp out of the new LS3 motor with NA mods!

Wow, I thought it is just the new batch, good thing I went Turbo and so far so good. So did Vortech honor all the warranty work in 4 years?

Here's an interesting thought, does anyone with repeated problems in a short time frame (i.e. more than one problem in three or four months) have the old pulley set up? Or are we all using the new pulley set up? I wonder if the new pulley set up is only part of a more extensive redesign, and the problems could be a result of that?

I have the new pulley design for the nonrevup. I don't think that the pulley design has anything to do with the blowers going bad. The new pulley layout is a lot better then the old one though, almost similar to the Timrod fix for the old design.

I'm thinking that the pulley design may just be the tip of the iceberg, maybe they redid a lot more than we know about.

I don't think the pulley design has anything to do with it. I believe that I heard that Vortech may have switched to another manufacturer for the bearings that they used and those bearings are basically junk. Once again, I can't confirm this 100% but it makes sense.
