Sounds like it would be better to save up and do Greddy twins the right way. Thanks op.

That's not the case anymore. Vortech has discovered the problem and corrected it. The brand new units that they are producing do not have this problem. See the sticky at the top of this section.

Thanks for the reminder hex. I updated the beginning of the thread to reflect this.

With 86K on my engine, do you think it would be a bit risky to go with FI even a SC this late? I was thinking that I might as well build the engine if I did go turbo. There's no way I would build and go SC.

In MY OPINION, if you really love your car, go ahead and get a SC, you do have to realize it's a bit more risky because your car is older, good luck. But if it WAS MY car, i wouldn't have a car thats 86k miles, i would've bought a new car already.

If your engine is in good working order, why not. I believe it was Jeremy at PF that said he installed a SC on a high mileage engine and it worked just fine. As long as there are no issues with your engine, go for it.

Mine went out after about 30K miles. Bearing issue. They corrected the problem with a new style bearing.
The good news is that if your Vortech goes out just pull the blower drive belt and you can drive the car without damage. It'll just be a little sluggish because the ECU pulls timing at higher RPM's.

yeah, that's something a turbo kit really won't let you do

If you havent made any fuel changes , or EMS changes to your system [ injectors , return fuel stystem , or Utech EMS ] The cars ECU will learn its self back to stock . And with in a short time drive just like stock . It will NOT pull timing as if in boost in the upper RPM's . The SS box will not pull timing unless it is in boost .
