I will have steady boost once I get the external wastegates installed, right now I just have the stcok APS internal ones which is why it probably drops off.

GTM says that cams will pick me up another 30hp so I have to get them but I'm not sure if cams alone is ok or should I do some headwork also as it will be apart, decisions decisions
Hey urban,

I missed this thread. Congrats. Our builds are similar and I think Sam is right, you will pick up a good bit with cams. Headwork can get sooo expensive, but if you do cams, you'll need to take the heads apart to put in the shims, springs anyway so you might be able to get a deal. On the plus side, you'll be able to rev higher, more safely.

Sorry to say but I think you're reaching the limit of the FI exhaust. I decided to swap for the evoTT and reduce the back pressure. I have APS 3.5" test pipes in there now, but I'm actually having Sharif put in huge custom cats cause my family would not tolerate the smell of test pipes (it stunk up the garage on every start up). Your dead-on about marriage btw - I can't believe I'm paying to reduce my power potential.

Later,
Raj

Thanks Raj I hear you on most of the decisions.
So I will be doing headwork at the same time due to cost and a better deal. I am trying to keep mine as stock looking so these are the reasons why I opted for the FI exhaust, the EVO just stood out to much and was louder and the same goes for the 3.5 test they are just too loud for me. I am going to push as much as I can to see what is the max with the setup I have on 91 octane, I hope the FI exhaust will treat me well

For some reason I do not get the smell from my test pipes I got one of my kids to stand behind the car when I started it up but they did not smell anything either

Good luck on your build, I am sure you researched the choice of options to get to your goal

You are running gasoline, right? J/k - it's only bad in an enclosed area - my garage has roof ventilation that sucks air in and so my exhaust fumes at idle get pulled in even with the garage door up. Outside it's a non-issue.

Goal - what goal? The goal keeps going up - it's never ending though this is the last thing I'm doing to the d@mn car !!! Well, until something breaks or the mod bug hits again

Nice build bro. Just how restrictive is the exhaust flow of the FI exhaust especially if you're under 500whp?

With my Fast Intentions exhaust with metal high flow cats (2.5" true dual), on Sharif's dyno the curve started taking a dump at around 420 whp on his dyno (that's about 480 or so Dynojet). High rpm power would just fall off... Putting on APS 3.5" downpipes made a world of difference. Now running the Motordyne TDX, which actually tapers to 2.5" up front and opens to 3" after the X pipe (getting true 3" XYZ here shortly when available), but power still the same with this set up as with the evoTT (2.75" true dual).

Talk about bringing a thread back to life..haha. Well I am pushing 520rwhp now and about 550trq and the clutch packs are holding just fine of course this is the stage 3 GTM tranny upgrade so not running stock clutch setup.

I am still running the FI exhaust as it sounds sweet and so far I am pushing enough power with no issues thus far and as I do not intend to go any further on this build I guess it will last the life of the car.

I unlike Raj have no cats but hey it does the job just fine

All I can say is that after hitting 130,000 miles on the car I am still having fun with this setup

Tig get that Tial BOV, you kow you want one......haha

I'm not running cats either anymore... got a 60 whp bump from taking off those 200 cell 4" cats. Random tech has 100 cell 5" cats now available so I'm thinking of getting a pair fabricated...
