I guess it doesn't hurt anything...just allows for more headroom. So the list to make it happen is:

Vortech tuner kit w/3.12 pulley
UTEC
Walbro 255
550 injectors

Anything else? What kind of torque can I expect with the setup? Can't do any more exhaust mods as we are sniffed in Atlanta...

You guys running the Vortec, I have a few questions.

Any time you add FI to a car that is not built for it, you add stress. So how reliable is the Vortech REV UP kit? Would you run this for say 350 miles full out like on the Raging Bull Stampede? I have noticed that the guys that have "add on" FI are always the ones that have to fix something on the Bull Run.

What would you do to make it as reliable as a stock set up?

Most people who get FI drive their cars on the street mostly and maybe occasionally track it doing like 20-30 minute lap sessions or maybe take it to the drag strip and run the car hard for 11-13 seconds

if you want to go full out for 350 solid miles, I'd probably not go with FI on a stock engine.

actually, I'd probably want a host of modifications to sustain such high speeds for such a long time. I might even consider a different NA engine altogether if I wanted power and reliability for 350 miles

My suggestion is to run these:

Turbo XS UTEC
Wideband for monitoring boost
650cc Injectors (PE's are killer if your looking for brand)
Clutch/Fly (comp/exedy)

Those are the basics... we can go from there if you need more help. Good luck man!

The only thing that I would change is going with the 2.87 vs. the 3.12 and add a good tune to the equation.

You can go 440cc with a fuel return kit, and for your information, no one drive 350 miles with a full blast with FI

Never been to the Raging Bull Texas Stampede have ya' boy.

First day we did 255 miles. Second day 200+. Now it's not 350 miles with the pedal to the floor. You have to stop for stop signs and lights and such and there is the occasional farmers tractor you have to pass, but yeah we run 90-100 most of the way and 130 plus in some places. You spend a LOT of time at WOT because of the twisty roads that are so much fun.

If 90-100 is all you're gonna hit most of the way, then the Vortech should work. At those sustained speeds, oil temp and fuel delivery is vital. I would get an oil cooler to keep the oil temps down. I recently drove my 9 psi setup from Chicago to San Diego. I drove for about 11 hours a day at 80 mph with cruise control. I was dyno tuned in 5th gear, which means +140 mph on the dyno. It's all about the tune and how conservative or aggressive you want. I'd say 400 rwhp on a 3.12 pully is aggressive.

What you described could wreck havoc on a NA engine let alone a FI setup, although 130 mph comes up much quicker on a FI G vs NA G.
