Cali + Vortech

Just curious if anyone in california has gotten the vortech supercharger installed... I check vortechs site, and they dont really list a vortech for the 03 g35, just the 04.. and thats for manual only..

one thing that im curious about though is that it says only legal for racing purposes.. highway driving is illegal.. why is that im curious? doesnt meet emmissions or something? wonder what happens if you do have it installed.. come time for smog check are you in trouble or what?

just curious..

Yeah, it's not CARB certified so it's not emissions legal right now. Also the kit will only go on Manual sedans, 03's included I believe, out of the box. I think they only listed '04 because the test fitter they had, which I believe is "zimbo", has an '04.

Narkotics car was the test car I think. Zimbo has a 350Z kit on his car.

Re: Cali + Vortech

I ordered my Vortech S/C Tuesday. mike @ Superchargers for Less said his California rep. said the Vortech kit would have its CARB exemption before anyone would have any need for an inspection. He said his rep. will give his personal phone # to anyone concerned about the exemption status.

a quick plug for mike @ Superchargers 4 Less, great guy....very good pricing.... got my kit for $4410.00 delivered.

Dollar is right, of course. I was not the test fit nor had I ever even contacted Vortech prior to ordering. I pre-ordered the 350z kit since the shop in Charlotte promised me they could make it fit on my car and tune it properly. They made good on the promise.

Re: Cali + Vortech

sweet.. you know i just read another post or something.. someone said that on the autos with the ati and vortech on an auto g you need to be in manual transmission mode in order to go WOT... i dunno why.. only thing i could think was the tranny doesnt shift fast enough in straight auto mode so you will be tagging the rev limiter.. but then again i dont think the manual mode is really faster..? oh well.. im sure its still bada$$
