But guess what, as soon as I had a problem (defective Vortech SC not anything that GTM did) Sam and GTM stepped up and said they would take care of it all free of charge (including labor) because they did all of the work on my car. Are shops like GTM and others mentioned pricey?? Hell yeah, but it was and is worth every penny to get it done right the first time. No other shop will ever touch my car when it comes to performance as long as I have a G.

Thank God! I do notice some people have a bit too much Hatorade to drink though. But everyone is entitled to their opinion. All I am saying is most "professional" shops will most likely not take as good care of you as the shops listed in the thread. Stay with the trusted and you will find it to be less hastle and less costly. Have fun and stay safe man!-AGThing1227
I agree with Hexxum's post, go to GTM, those guys are good and they will take care of you if something were to go bad. But the truth of it is, you are walking on thin ice if your boosted without a built motor. Make sure you build your motor when you boost, it will save you a ton of money in the end.

) I think you will be ok, but I would save up for a built motor if you get F/I with the conservative tune. However if you go all out on the stock block and it goes out on you. It will run you ~$4,000 more(~$2000 block and labor).
thanks for all the info!
I don't plan on going very high as far as horsepower is concerned. I just wanted to give the motor a little more strength than the average g. Something that will give it the punch, maintain reliablity, and affordable. Any thoughts? I saw someone posted about the stillen sc.

3 SIMPLE RULES
1. I would not consider FI upgrades without a backup mode of transportation should the need arise.
2. pick a shop with known expertise AND a good reputation on the forums (The Internet Rulez!).
3. do all the work at one shop with all the parts bought from that shop.
More than likely, a reputable shop will do the job right the first time, but even if there is a run of "bad luck", they'll stand behind their work. Can't ask for more than that.

my g is super reliable, the only issue i had was overboosting due to the pos utec boost selonoid(hks evc 6 fixed that). the ecu got fried once but that was when i took the g to a "reputable" evo/subaru shop. other than that ive had no problems in the 6000+ miles, and if i would have taken my car to 350/g shop i wouldnt even have that problem. honestly its real reliable, i would drive it cross country for a rally and not worry to much about it, i dawg it pretty hard. its not so much a reliablily issue, its just a vicous cycle with upgrading it, suspension is next for my ride becuause you cnt put 400hp down on stock suspension safely
I've had my Vortech since the 1,000 mile marker on my 06 coupe 5AT. Other than the normal oil change and the occasional cog belt breaking, I've been good. 49k on the engine and Vortech. I did have to get my Catalytic Converters replaced though, a minor nuisance.
I'm running the stock 3.33 pullies and changed my muffler and y pipe. Just make sure you get it tuned correctly from the get go to avoid future headaches.

My car has been boosted for ~30k+ miles on the stock block. 1 year with a Stillen SC and now 15 months with Greddy TT. If you have a good install and good tune your car should be fine.
There are lots of other supporting mods to consider as well when you go for big power like brakes, tires and suspension. You also will want gauges to make sure things are running right.
Spend some time researching these threads and you will learn a lot. I didn't know too much about motors when I got my G 2.5 years ago and now I could build my own if I wanted.
