Exclamation Max psi on a stock 2003 g35 engine

This might already have been asked a dozen time, but i cannot find the thread so.

How much boost will a stock g35 engine take and without any other mods (heads, exhaust) could you expect to make before the pistons shot through the hood??

Go to the Forced Induction section here or My350Z.com

But I think this video will do.

<object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ooT3sMHlDf8&color1=0x3a3a3a&color2=0x999999&hl=en" ></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ooT3sMHlDf8&color1=0x3a3a3a&color2=0x999999&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

10 PSI should be a bit safer.

you do realize that psi does not mean, or often correlate with power.

i'm running 15psi on my setup and way less HP than say a Greddy TT with 15 psi, like hundreds of HP less.

All depends on the tune. 7-8 psi isn't safe if your tune is fubar. 15-17psi could be very safe if the tune is spot on.

WAY TOO GENERAL OF A QUESTION.

Way to general of a question? I fully disagree. Stock engine with a blower or a turbo. How much forced induction can it handle. That is pretty straight forward.

The highest I would go is 10 PSI, with a good tune.

The lower the psi the better for your engine. Based on what I have seen the motor is at more risk running a higher PSI with the same power. Do not compare SC and Turbo since SC can run higher PSI since it only give you the power in increment all the way to redline, so basically your motor only see that Peak PSI if you shift all the time at redline. I'll pick a 5psi 400whp turbo over a 9psi 400whp turbo Now to answer the question, on the safe side, I will stay below 9psi on stock motor with a Turbo.

It was a total stock block and dave at functiontuned just took it to its limit.Dave allready had another engine to put in it and would you believe that the stock block at 18psi and lower had over 150 pulls on the dyno.........and it still held up pretty damn good.
