Re: finished vortech install

The BOV whistles at idle? You're not talking about the belt/charger whine but the actual BOV?

Hey, congrats, man! That's awesome that you've gone forced induction...Definitely a bad *** G

Are you sure the BOV is what's making the whistling noise? That's odd...Could it be leaking? Maybe cracked or somehow damaged somewhere? Or maybe a pipe is leaking? I know that ATI has an issue with the BOV leaking (according to JIC Magic) and JIC Magic corrected the problem by sourcing TiAL for a BOV

Re: finished vortech install

yeah its the BOV, i can slip my hand down there and partially cover the BOV and it quits, it does it a little at startup but it gets louder after a few minutes, dbsqjunkie bought some ruber tubing and a filter and put it on there and its better, somebody at a shop told him it would actually be better that way. its not bad just noticeable.

Outstanding job. This is an install that would scare most people. Will keep an ear open for your numbers.

Re: finished vortech install

All those noises are normal. Have fun with it man, I sure am. You will have some belt squeal after about 500 miles or so, and you'll need to tighten your fan belt. I've had to do this almost every 500 miles.

Re: finished vortech install

We have a small filter that we include in our S2000 systems that will fit right on the valve. It's 9.95. You can see it in this picture above the valve:

Vortech Part Number is 8H040-175.

Re: finished vortech install

It can't be the BOV, there has to be boost for it to be discharging. And at idle, the vaccuum would keep it closed, I would presume. Could be wrong. Just a guess.
