Vortech Headaches

I had my Vortech for a year now, and with only 2000 miles accumulated, it has been returned now for the third time. The first return was the same reason for the next 2 returns. Excessive noise and oil in my duct piping! By excessive I mean the oil mist leaving the BPV coated the underside of my car with oil, not to mention misting on my belts that caused belt slippage. They returned the same unit to me 2 times, and the problem was never fixed. This IS the last time. I sent detailed pictures of the inside of the duct piping, along with oil dripping off the underside of my car, and demanded they stand by their product and do the right thing...Send me a New Unit! This venture has cost me time and money, not to mention being without my car for the weeks it takes to send out and wait for the return and reinstall.I'm jealous of all you Vortech guys out there that have had a great experience with this supercharger.I just hope that they do the right thing!!

Sorry to hear this bro!!! Did you get this kit new or used? Also who installed and tuned this kit? Your tuner should have been able to handle this better than you (including dealing with Vortech and sourcing the problem).

Sorry to hear that man. This is the reason I'm not going FI unless I get some sponsorship. I'm seeing way too many Problems with FI. The cost of doing this plus all the issues isn't worth FI to me at this time. Don't get me wrong I want FI bad. I just don't want the headaches. I have enough headaches with body shops.
Maybe I'll just go with the shots.

Yeah, FI is a lot of fun but you can be guaranteed there will be issues along the way, but as you stated, there are issues with any mod you do. A mod almost always has to be adjusted, fixed, etc. after installation. If you want a hassle free car you should really just keep it stock or buy a faster stock car.

hey bro. i have had my vortech kit for 3 years about 40k. i have seen everything this kit can offer good and bad

the oil leakage you talk about im experiancing now again for the 3 time. its a default in the bov and return line. that is my conclusion. im going to take my car to GTM for a second opinion. he seems to know what to do when it comes to this kit.

how the hell do you only put 2k on your blower in year? was your car out of commision for long periods of time? when my blower went back to vortech 3 times i still drove the car with no blower. car feels stock just a bit sluggish..

good luck and let us know what you find out.

pics of the car?

Vortech Headache

I have a second car, and don't drive the G in the winter unless it's dry. That's my issue with this particular unit...I just don't push this car...28000 miles on an 04. I'm calling them this morning to get a update on what they think the problem is...I'll let you know. Thanx

Let me know of the what you said the problem could be (BOV/Return Line) I spoke with Vortech, and they shipped a new unit...They have'nt inspected the old unit yet. They said 3 returns warranted a replacement. Good thing, however, I will call them in the next week or so to see what they found...just curious.

Your problem was that you kept blowing seals in the blower . When that happens , oil gets into the intercooler piping . blows out the BOV , goes through the intercooler , and then into the plenum . When you get your new blower , might want to clean it all out .

A FAULTY BOV will NOT cause oil to come out of it

The only issues with the Vortech were with the ones sold new last summer. That problem has been resolved with the kits sold after that. Of course, there will always be issues that pop up on certain builds. Prochargers have had them and the HKS charger will have them too. There is NO FI option that is 100% free of problems. Vortechs for the most part are reliable with minimal problems. Unfortunately, because of the bad batch that went out last summer, it makes it seem like Vortechs in general have a high number of problems which is simply not true.
