The tuner should know what he's talking about. Everyone on these types of boards has an opinion, some with better advice than others. Some will tell you that driving it hard fromt the start is the best thing to do!
Personally I'd take a road trip and vary the speed on the highway to do a proper break-in over the recommended mileage.

In reference to that site ^
You can't exactly say what a "dramatic increase of power" is. Cars vary anyway, from the factory and with aftermarket parts. So again, how much are you looking to gain by running the **** out of your car right out of it's newly biult box? 10hp? Maybe? Who knows. But would you rather have longevity, or lets call it, 20hp? Personally, I'd rather have a longer engine life.
Besides, you're biult. You will be able to take on about 90% of the cars out there, or atleast be able to get in a good run that you normally wouldn't just being stock FI.
So I guess it's really up to you. Will it really make a difference from 520whp to 540whp? Not really... Break it in the RIGHT way - the tuners suggestions.

Tuner recommendations....?
Here's the deal, you paid your tuner to build this engine so why would you
doubt his recommendations for the break in? I've been involved with numerous
builds over the years and when the owner doubts what I've told them it has
normally ended with pistons/rods sticking thru the block. The owner always
said something like this, "I didn't think one 1/4 mile run would hurt anything!"
Believe your tuner/builder, you've paid him for his ability's and knowledge....
use it! Being stupid could/will be costly!
