Question for you vq guru's

I blew my motor 450rwhp it leaned out at 5000rpm for god know what reason and i have to buy a new motor so my question ??? is which motor has the better stock bottom end ( con rod ) the vq35hr with its longer block and rod or the vq35de. My third option is to have one built or buy a long block; below is a link where i can buy a vq long block with a built bottom end and ported heads

Are you trying to put the HR in a g35? I suspect you are going to run into major clearance issues and it will require quite a bit of fab work. At that point you should just go ls1 or rb

Who did your tuning? I'm still impressed by 450whp on a stock VQ35DE. Very nice. How long had it been running like that?

Z fever tampa, FL. i could make more hp i am guessing about 600hp at 15psi but i was worried about the bottom end and for good reason i had about $15,000 in mods. My next project was going to be a 4.1L stroker

Just build the VQ35de and call it a day. Why mess ariund with stock blocks at this point. Since the car is down, just get a built block so that you don't have to worry about blowing your stock block again. 450rwhp is way too much for a stock block anyways.

Here is a good thread on could of, would of, and should ofs for the VQ engines:

It is very useful so long as you quickly identify the off-topic posts and continue on.

That is the first thing you need to figure out!

Take it to Performance Factory if you're in FL near them, otherwise Forged Performance in Atlanta. You can't just replace a DE block with an HR.

Doing an HR swap into a DE chassis takes much more than just the motor.

I agree with the general consensus: Install a forged shortblock. If we can help, just ask. And definately have it tuned and setup by an experience VQ35 shop. THANKS!
