Turbo without ignition retarding. . .
F/I Gurus, what do you think of this reply I got from SSR:
"Andrew,
The Turbos are made by Turbonetics, backed by a 1-year warranty, and yes they feature full T3 Housings, but we cannot give information away on the specs. The Twin T3 setup is good for 600WHP. According to our dyno chart we start making boost at 2000rpms and hit full boost at about 3500-4000RPM. And as for pre-detenation is not a factor of timing but mainly gas and boost, the static compression ratio is what the concern is with timing. At a mere 6.4PSI Timing is not critical where as it remains as stock it maintains maximum efficiency and is safe if tuned at the proper air/fuel ratio.
Thanks,
SSR Engineering"
With a claimed 402 RWHP, wouldn't it be a cleaner setup to retard the timing a little, and work with a higher A/F ratio? They are using 10.5A/F at max RPM. . . Hmmm. I wonder of this company uses any kind of ECU upgrade? I really like the stealth twin intercooler setup, but jeez! I sure as heck don't want to sacrifice my engine for a TT kit that "looks cool." Any thoughts?
