It is easier than that actually... you will be pleasantly surprised to see I have already installed a can connector on it for you. These are simply plug and play - no wiring needed

Also, just so everyone knows Haltech has built in on-board data logging. The dash has expanded data logging features like G sensors, track mapping, more channels (up to 32), etc.
