HKS supercharger and mechanical fan clearance
Hi all,
Purchased a stage one HKS supercharger for my 04 sedan from Sam at GTM today and will be installed in two weeks. My concern is that if I will have a clearance issue since my car has a mechanical fan. Sam looked at the car this morning and felt that I should not have clearance issue when they do the install. However, I'd like to some opinons from the forum members if the clutch fan will be in the way of the supercharger. I've browsed several pictures of Gs and Zs with the supercharger and it seemed like a tight fit, and all of them, I think, have electric fans, instead of the belt-driven fan on my sedan. Should I be concerned about the fan clearance? Your advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

If GTM says they won't have an issue, then they won't. And if they do? Then it's their issue... and they'll figure it out. Good guys over there... don't stress out over it man! You'll have bigger things to worry about- like your engine holding together! Lol... nah, but really... don't think about it. You aren't doing the install, so you have nothing to worry about.
Good luck with it all. The HKS is a nice system!

Just a small update. The intall is completed a few days ago. As for the mechnical fan clearance, I had to get a new radiator (56mm PWR) and a new set of fans (GTM fan kit). Besides, the HKS kit fits like coupe and uses the same mounting points as coupe. For 2004.5 sedan and upwards with the electric fans, the kit will fit without mods. Now my car has been sitting at GTM for a little more than a month and counting, waiting for the Aquamist HFS-6 to arrive. As soon as the kit arrives, Sam will put it on the car, tune it, and dyno it. Hopefully, in the very, very, very near future.

I don't need to add more power, my main concern is reliability. To lower the internal temperature of the engine since I have the stock block. Also, I'll be tuned with only water, no meth for me. Just hate to give up on the kit after waiting for a whole month. I just can't let it go after all the time invested in waiting for this kit. what do you guys think? I have the stage IV kit btw if that makes a difference.

HKS Supercharger eh??? Nice choice I loved mine while I had it, gtm custom fans and pwr radiator? Yup went that route too and cooling was never ever ever ever a issue again hahahaha. As for water/meth, I say go for it, it only does positive things, and if you decide to build your motor in the future then you don't have to buy it then. Good luck and have fun!! Post results when you done, smart choice on system and shop also.
