Some new PE TT G-tech numbers! Updates!
Re: Some new PE TT G-tech numbers! Updates!
Neff,
I didn't see this thread before I PMd you about this issue.
RTs have worked well for me too, and they are prolly ok and will be ok for a long time, as I do care for them in the way you described. But they DID have a high failure rate that other cats did not, period (carsound-based cats and doug's - forgot the manufacturer of those). What I mean is that for TTs, I need as free-flowing exhaust as possible, and would like to just get pipes. In fact, I am selling my RTs if anyone is interested.

Steve, what are you gonna do with your SC setup? Feel like making a donation to the "Randy's really poor and could use a great deal" fund?
2 G or NOT 2 G, there is no question!

Gurgen,
Do you think your car will pass smog check? Being in California, this is one thing I worry about whenever I add any engine/exhaust mod to my car.

Re: Some new PE TT G-tech numbers! Updates!
With Cats, I am pretty sure it will, especially the stock cats which i will swap in for the inspection. The car runs at a stock-like (if not identical) a/f at idle. Not sure if that's the only parameter that would affect things (give ntaht I did not swap out cams or anything), but the a/f is definitely ok.
Of course with test pipes... well you can guess. But of course, I will only use test pipes for "testing" purposes, and only at the track!

Sounds sweet man. I probably spend 80% of the time under 4k when I drive around town so I want something that could really take advantage of that without getting a new hood ; ). Besides it sounds like your kit has so much potential.
Re: Some new PE TT G-tech numbers! Updates!
yes i agree - the potential and the power (at such low psi) is great.
Also, heep in mind, to really take advantage of the midrange, you are gonna need at least 04.5 auto sedan or an auto coupe (or of courser MTs), b/c some of our crappy trannys (like mine) are simply top gear selectors and do not keep the selected gear!

Hey Guys
Did some Gtech runs last night after I found an exceptionally straight, smooth, and level road. Did a new best for this car in the 1/4 mile. I would appreciate any comments/suggestions that you may have for improving them.
Conditions: 12:00am-1:30am; 60-62 degF; tank ~ half full (~10gal)
Boost: ~4.3psi (0.3bar)
A/F ratio: 13.4-13.0 (2000-4700rpm) and 11.5-11.1 (4700-7000rpm).
Best Run (moderate brake torqueing):
1/4mi: 13.196 sec @106.00
60': 2.109
0-60: 4.996
0-100: 11.927
Another run (moderate brake torqueing):
1/4mi: 13.257 sec @106.49
60': 2.152
0-60: 5.091
0-100: 11.852
Another run (no brake torqueing):
1/4mi: 13.328 sec @104.73
60': 2.146
0-60: 5.133
0-100: 12.441
Slowest run (NO brake torqueing):
1/4mi: 13.426 sec @104.08
60': 2.093
0-60: 5.261
0-100: 12.639
Obviously a good launch means everything. And really cannot launch at anything over ~2200 rpm as I just burn out the tires through the rpm band. I belive that with wider/better tires, better times are to be had at this same boost level.
I was a little worried about the lean a/f and it's drastic drop at 4700rpm, but not too worried as my timing is retarded 4-8 degrees. I took care of that issue this afternoon with a reflash (the a/f, the timing was left untouched - still wanna be a little safe).
TC swap: these are the new, post-TC swap numbers. I am not sure i noticed THAT much of a difference, but it seem as though I can brake-torque this one to about 2800-2900rpm - weird!!!!! I really cannot tell the difference, it may all be in my head. I do not see much improvement from driving the car the same way (see the last two runs).
Thanks
Gurgen

Re: Some new PE TT G-tech numbers! Updates!
Could you possibly post your GTP file (I just got my G-Tech pro comp today) so that I have something to aim for and compare against, can't wait for my Stillen SC over the next 3 weeks ... going to do a baseline dyno tomorrow and then I'll dyno again after the install.
Anyways, PE TT looking good, can't wait for the fully tuned version ...
G35c 6MT - Pearl white, front / rear spoiler, 35% tint.
19" Racing Hart GT5, 245/35/19, 275/35/19
Stillen intake, s/charger, cat back exhaust (est. 400hp)

Re: Some new PE TT G-tech numbers! Updates!
Damn gurgen, those are some great numbers for only running 4.3 lbs of boost. You should be in the low 12's easily after you get everything settled. Have you ever looked into the possibility of making your auto a true manumatic instead of just a top gear selector? That would drive me absolutely nutts especially with a FI setup on my car. Oh yeah, next time get a stick.... ;-D j/k I'm only kidding, no flames please.

Speakin' of transmissions. . .
Have you done anything special to yours? I thought that our autos can only handly ~330 ft-lbs of torque before they break. I would love to boost the snot outa my engine, but I'm more concerned with the auto tranny. . .

Drew
I'd be real curious to learn who told you that/where you got that fact from.
The following is only logical, that the very same tranny that is used on the FX45 and the q45 (both at about 350crank hp) will have the usual/significant amount of a safety margin; i.e. they are overengineered.
Also, remember that the clutchpacks on the AT are wet clutches, not dry, so they cannot be compared directly (with respect to size).
